Pregnancy related sickness absence

I know that pregnancy related illness doesn't count towards work absences in the normal way. But does anyone know how strict a criteria this is? Just wondering as I have a stinking cold - id usually dose up on day nurse and be able to plough through. Obviously can't do that at the moment. So my inability to work (if I still felt awful tomorrow) would be caused by my pregnancy and inability to self medicate. Got a feeling it doesn't work like that though 😔

Nope, doesn't work like that. I had a migraine during the week and couldn't take my usual meds due to pregnancy but my employer marked this down as a regular absence.

I've had this exact cold and I did force myself into work and then on my day off Friday I was completely wiped out. Had a throbbing headache and just wanted to sleep as I couldn't take anything other than paracetamol and it wasn't even touching the sides. I rang in n Friday night for my Saturday shift and my boss exact words were "what is exactly wrong with you?" Even tho I was on the phone with my voice on the verge of being gone. I've woken up today and feel miles better after resting. My boss even asked me to work today and I don't want to rush myself and bring myself back to square one. I'm sure it'll go down as just sickness🙄

You have to remember your body is growing a life. You're looking after yourself and the growing baby. Rest as much as you can, fluids, plenty of orange juice and bubble baths x
