Anyone took Prednisolone for unexplained recurrent miscarriages?

After multiple investigations for 4 miscarriages in a row, a Professor specialised in recurrent miscarriages is suggesting to take 20mg of prednisolone on the next pregnancy. His view is my endometrium may be inflamed and/or does not allow a proper implementation or development of the embryon.
All my miscarriages have been silent and embryon stopped developping at around 6/7 weeks.
All tests including blood and NK cells came back normal.

I am a little worried about taking steroids for consequences it may have on me and the developing baby.

Has anyone taken prednisolone? Could you share your experience?

Thank you,

I did. Had 5 mcs, no cause found though my consultant suspected clotting issues affecting placenta growth. In my last and only successful pregnancy I took pred, alongside progesterone pessaries, 150mc aspirin, and two clexane injections a day. Not sure what did the job but I’d tried everything but the steroids in two previous pregnancies and still lost them.

It works for loads of people and I’d trust your doctor and give it a try.

Hi, looking for some advice.

I was diagnosed with really high killer cells from my first biopsy with Prof Quenby at Coventry, but my second result came back totally normal. I did take a course of doxycycline in between the two biopsies as I was shown to have endometritis. I was told I wouldn’t need prednisolone in my next pregnancy.

I then went to Athens for a hysteroscopy which showed up inflammation and some scarring. I also took three different antibiotics to clear an infection found from their microbiome test via biopsy. I also had the blood test done for NK cells to check again, which came back normal.

Fast forward one month and I am pregnant. Which in itself feels like a miracle.

I’m on cyclogest and baby aspirin 150mg. I already have prednisolone which I purchased in Athens just incase - and I’m really in two minds about whether to start taking it as well, even though my NK cells are seemingly not an issue now. Main reasons being, the inflammation that was still visible, and also the nature of my losses - both missed miscarriages.

Any advice? Did you decide to take prednisolone in the end @Kaliou?

TIA x

@HopefulH I hope you are well and your pregnancy went well. I am really keen to hear the outcome as in a similar position and looking for hope!

I'm sorry to say I had another missed miscarriage. I took 15mg prednisolone. Baby's heart beat stopped when I was around 8 weeks pregnant but baby was measuring a week behind... I'm now with Dr Shehata and hoping to see if his immune protocol helps if I can fall pregnant again and I'm on the waiting list for suspected endometriosis surgery. @thehurtingheart

Yes I took 20mg per day until. 12 weeks, successful pregnancy and birth. All healthy thankfully! Goood luck!

Thank you,

I'm on 20mg per day. This is my third ivf cycle, first one that has worked and first time I've been on it so I'm very much a fan. Officially six weeks tomorrow x
