Hi all

We got our BFP on OTD, 10dp5dt. I’ve become a serial tester and I think today’s looks lighter which is worrying. Yesterday’s also showed super quick, before it had fully absorbed the urine and today’s didn’t. Any advice or words of encouragement? Thank you in advance x

Hey did you test today as well?

choosername1234 · 04/10/2021 15:31

I was also a serial tester. I tested almost immediately post transfer because I wanted to see the HCG from the trigger injection and when that left my system I could be sure that any positive was a real positive. By day 10 I was also getting positives and my baby is now almost 1. I am keeping everything crossed for you

Hi @dutchessmom yes I did, really don't know if I'm just over worrying and the mind is playing tricks Hmm still don't think it looks like it's progressing x

Hi @choosername1234 it's a viscous circle isn't it Confused. I didn't test early but since getting the + suddenly I can't stop. So lovely to hear it went great for you. Thank you x

I think your 13dp line is thinner, not lighter. 14dp certainly looks reassuring. I also find with FR that the lines darken over time so when you compare a 48 hour old test with one you've just peed on, it's not really a fair comparison.

Try to step away from the tests, or at least leave loner in between. Your line may not got much darker as it is already pretty dark. Also beware the hook effect...

Seasoned IVF serial tester here!

Hey @Knifeandfawkes yes you're right, it's the width also tricking me and agree it's not a fair comparison days later. I tried not to become 'that' person but alas I failed. I guess there is some variation between tests too, I mean they're made in a factory and won't all be identical.

I've not heard of the hook effect, off I go to google!

Thank you for commenting and hope all has/is going well for you x

I didn’t think my lines looked any darker from 13dp5dt to 15dp5dt (I only tested every second day by that point) and was freaking out but I’m now 36 weeks. I think there’s just a point where they can’t get any darker. It was the hardest part of pregnancy for me after two early losses. Your lines look really good though, basically exactly the same as mine in this successful pregnancy, my lines were much lighter in the two I lost.

Best of luck and if you can manage not to test further then do, I understand the urge is strong but I started to feel a bit happier and more relaxed once I stopped testing. I did use a couple of clearblue digitals a week apart to see the weeks going up but those are notoriously unreliable too so it probably wasn’t the most helpful thing to do.

Hi @kikisparks thank you for responding and reassuring me Smile. I will definitely take your advice and slow down testing. I have to do it again on Thursday for the clinic as they need one at 17dp5dt before they'll book the scan. I really suffered after EC and am still swollen, get pain and a tightness in my lower abdomen etc so I think this is making me more edgy.

Thrilled to hear you're 36 weeks, not long to go at all! Hope the last few weeks go smoothly and best of luck, enjoy every moment x

How are you doing @laulau31

laulau31 · 06/10/2021 14:07

@Knifeandfawkes Hey, thanks so much for asking. I just took a Asda cheapy as cant find FRER anywhere at the moment. Barely a line at all. Not sure if this is to do with it being a different type of test, or being a diluted wee or I'm out. The not knowing is driving me insane. How are you? X

I'm pretty good thanks, day 2 of stimms for me. Trying to DC3 (already have a DS and DD from 5 fresh and 3 frozen rounds!) ...feel like we are mad to be trying again, but we are just not done. Hoping we can have a little less drama and a bit quicker success trying for this one, but I'm older and my hormone profile has changed, so who know how I'll react...first scan will be interesting!

You're doing so well to hold it together, the not knowing is hell. Are you past OTD yet? What did you have transferred?

laulau31 · 06/10/2021 20:06

@Knifeandfawkes oh wow congratulations on your first two and you are brave going for a third, a lot of respect for you. I'll keep everything crossed for you! How do you feel 2 days in?

Yes OTD was 10dp5dt, I'm 16dp5dt today. The clinic need you to test again tomorrow then if it's still positive they book the viability but I think it's on its way out looking at today's Asda one, unless it was just a crap test. One 3AB transferred x

Oh no, that sucks. I've had a few losses and chemicals along the way too, it's so rubbish when you've gone through so much to get there. I wouldn't compare Asda tests to FRERs though, even the same brand have differences between them so two different brands are definitely not comparable. Your Frer lines looked really good so fingers crossed for you.
