MC :- tissue being tested after first miscarriage?!

Sadly I suffered a MC and opted for surgical management a few days ago.

Ive read that they do not send tissue off for testing until you’ve had 3 miscarriages, however I was advised they would be sending the tissue off and I would only hear (in writing) if anything was found.

Do these tests ever really result in anything being found and if so how much info is provided?

I have a son who I had by c-section last year and asked the consultant if my MC was caused due to the scar from c-section, she said from the scans it does not look like baby attached to the scar so this has been ruled out but wondering why they are testing after only 1 loss…

Anyone else offer any insight into the testing?!

When I had my MC earlier they sent tissue off for testing but the Dr made it very clear it wasn't to test about why I'd had the MC. I think it was to make sure it was actually pregnancy related tissue as expected and so there wasn't any other issues with you. I don't remember if I got the results it's all a bit of a blur. Do you have any follow ups, could you ask then?

Take care of yourself x

@hend21 thank you :) I think this is possibly what they meant when they said they were sending off for testing, as they said they would only write if there were any problems!

It’s all such a blur isn’t it, I just can’t remember the exact words. I’m not holding out any hope that it will be testing and I don’t expect it after one miscarriage.

Unfortunately no follow ups scheduled and EPU have said I don’t need to make contact with them and back to GP if bleeding continues past 2 weeks..
thank you for your reply :) x

I had an incomplete miscarriage Thursday. I was told the tissue would be sent to the lab for testing - apparently to test for a molar pregnancy among other things I think? Can’t remember exactly what they said. Bit of a blur to me too. Weird day. They said all tissue gets sent for testing and u just hear within 6 weeks if anything was found?

@Scottishmum0818 that’s exactly what I was told about 6 weeks. Though she didn’t say that it was for a molar but I suspect that’s what it will be for.
