Baked Camembert is fine.

@Somerandomgirl

All thats COOKED and pasteurised is fine dont worry .. ham is fine.. its more the salami and pastramis and those kind dried meats that should be avoided
You can cook or freeze cured meats to make them safe to eat

@Dipsydoodlenoodle

I thought luncheon meat was ok, I thought I'd read it was only chorizo type meats (i.e. cured rather than cooked that should be avoided).

The only thing I really want to eat are brie and baked camenbert; the rest I'm ok without haha.

Baked camembert is fine as cooking makes it safe to eat

@RosieLemonade

What about feta cheese?
You really need to read the link above, you’re going to drive yourself demented if you’re paranoid about every food. The nhs link tells you all you need to know.
doadeer · 04/10/2021 15:27

Hardly anything is prohibited or advised against. Even soft cheese you can bake.

StevieNix · 04/10/2021 15:29

Yes I absolutely ate them- I was obsessed with smoked turkey breast slices from the deli counter! I only followed the nhs guidelines which said nothing about cold cooked meats.

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 04/10/2021 15:38

@TheGrumpyGoat

Baked Camembert is fine, as it’s cooked.
I had seen this, but I can never quite cook it properly - its either ALL melted into a mush or still hard.

I can't get baked camembert right either, it's so annoying as I do love it. So disappointing when it comes out 'wrong'! And it's pretty pointless raw/cold isn't it.

GinnyBee · 04/10/2021 16:04

@dementedpixie

Smoked salmon and ham are not prohibited though. Maybe limit caffeine and cook soft cheeses or have a hard cheese instead. You can make some of the foods safer rather than missing them out
So my GP with my first pregnancy told me that it'd be best to avoid caffein altogether. I know it's not official NHS guideline, but I found an article that was dated August 2020 (I first found out I was pregnant September 2020) so must have been really recent.

And with smoked salmon I just don't really know why it isn't advised to limit it, given it's not cooked and we're told to avoid raw fish. I'm originally from Finland where smoked salmon is banned, so I'm confused about it.

dementedpixie · 04/10/2021 17:07

You arent told to avoid raw fish. You can even eat sushi as long as the fish was frozen first

Cafeaulait27 · 04/10/2021 17:54

Han is fine - it’s just cured meat like chorizo, salami etc that’s not ok unless it’s cooked on a pizza.

Somerandomgirl · 04/10/2021 18:37

I googled so much with first pregnancy i gave myself fokd phobia. Cause even fruit and veg have -stuff-
Eat what your body tells you to! Uk advice is not to touch dirt/mud too! Imagine those living off farms or people 50 years ago..we've become so afraid of everything
