No heartbeat at the 7w scan and embryo only measuring 6w

I went for a 7w scan on Friday and there was no heartbeat present and the embryo was only measuring at 6w/5mm. The sonographer has sadly advised that even at 6w or 5mm a heartbeat would be visible so it’s a 70% chance of miscarriage.

I've been doing fertility awareness/tracking so there is very little scope for late ovulation or implantation. My HCG drawn yesterday has come back at 18500 and I'm booked in for another scan Sunday am.

I guess I'm just wondering whether anyone has been in this position before? Welcome stories with outcomes good and bad.

I was in this position and the outcome wasn’t good. I’m sorry. I guess you’ve been told to go back for another scan in another week or so?

I had similar and it resulted in a MMC, sorry you're in this waiting game x

Following 6 pregnancy losses I have unfortunately lived a similar scenario of a missed miscarriage and the outcome was not good.

Similar scenario but heartbeat at 7 weeks but baby only measuring 6 weeks. Ended up in a MMC sadly. Fingers crossed it's different for you lovely xx

My situation was very similar and ended up with a MMC & a D&C 3 weeks later
But - a DS 16 months later

I went for an early scan in my first pregnancy. I was sure I was 7 weeks and the pregnancy measured at 6 weeks and there was no heartbeat. We were asked to come back in two weeks for a re-scan.

He's 5 and a half now and was born at 42 weeks even with the extra week added on.

Prepare yourself for the worst, but it's not always the case. Even being sure of your dates. I have no explanation for it.

As you rightly predicted scan confirmed a MMC. Just waiting on a scan next Sunday and can then proceed with surgical management (again 🙄).
