Induction - dilapan S vs pessary (quite urgent!)

I’m currently in hospital for induction for DS2. I was all set to have the pessary until a doctor came in and offered another option - dilapan S rods. They’re non-hormonal and get your cervix to dilate, apparently with a higher success rate, but are more painful to insert than the pessary.

Does anyone have any experience to share please? I need to decide quite quickly!

I had the rods and they got me to 3cm so they could break my waters and I was so comfy and able to do everything. Uncomfortable going in and out but have gas and air. Sorry if this is too late! X

That’s so helpful. Thank you! Nothing has happened yet as they are too busy.

I’ve decided on the pessary after speaking to the midwife again, but glad to hear of your positive experience!

I had the pessary. Well I had 2 5 hours apart which got me to 3cm with no pains they they broke my waters and my daughter was born 2 hours later! Good luck 😃

Oh thanks so much! That gives me hope. I’m getting bored and worried after 24 hours waiting -
They haven’t even put the pessary in!

I had a really posterior cervix and they struggled to get them in but it must of done something. When they broke my waters I needed gas and air it was painful so
Don't be afraid to ask if you need it.
