Painful Scan

Has anyone else had a scan at the hospital that hurt? This is my 2nd pregnancy and it was my 20 week scan. Baby was being stubborn and wouldn’t turn over to check the spine. The bed was tipped backwards, I had to jump up & down, went for a walk and had to drink & eat something sugary. The baby still didn’t move. Anyway the sonographer really pushed on my stomach when doing the scan. I was wincing and even said a few times it was hurting me. My stomach aches most of yesterday and this morning I’ve woke up and my stomach feels really bruised and sore. Is this normal? Can a scan be that uncomfortable and need that much force? Will it have bothered the baby or just my stomach muscles?

No and I'd be alarmed at that.

The sonographer wasn’t horrible or anything. She was really informative and showed us everything on the baby which was nice but she really had to press hard and it hurt. I’m booked to go back next week so at least I’ll get to check baby again. I know they might have to use some force but I didn’t expect it to hurt, especially at 20 weeks when baby is much bigger

Thank you for the reassurance, as long as baby is ok and won’t get hurt
