12 week scan and dreading anyone touching my stomach

Tomorrow is my 12 week scan.

I'm the usual mix of excitement to see my baby and anxious hoping everything is healthy (I'm 39 this time round so hear a few more stories than I did with my other children 10 years ago)

But, my main issue is that I cannot bear thr thought of someone pushing hard on my abdomen at the minute. My abdomen is so tender and feels hot, achy and uncomfortable from morning sickness that I worry I'm actually be sick.

Even the thought of it can make me gag and I'm just so upset that I'll feel like this in a day that should (🤞🤞) be a happy experience.

Morning sickness is quite a new thing for me in pregnancy, in my previous two I had nothing anywhere near this. Not sure if it's age that's caused the vomiting and debilitating sickness or I was just lucky the first 2 times.

Has anyone else felt like this leading up to their scan? 😫

No advice, but hopefully you’ll be so distracted by seeing your baby that you won’t be focusing on your tender abdomen and sickness.

I’ve been diagnosed with HG, and the 20 mins at my 12week scan was the ONLY time I’ve not felt sick! I did vomit as soon as I got back to our car though.

Good luck tomorrow, hope everything goes well for you.

I'm fairly certain I did throw up - I had hg and I definitely threw up once when having a scan (just not sure if it was 12 weeks or not!) I also puked when a nurse was doing that "pushing to feel your bump" thing they do to measure.

Say that you feel sick and ask for a bowl - at least you have warned them!s

I paid for a reassurance scan about 2 weeks ago. They dont press hard on your tummy infact atm the babies low so barely go near your tummy at all. I had to lift up my top and put my knickers down to my thighs but she gave me some blue paper to cover myself then she gelled above my pubic mound. Obviously cant speak for the 12 week scan as I was 8weeks3 days when she did this. Its gonnabe fine it has to be done hon x

I was more self conscious about having my massive fat gut out (all that lockdown weight on top of an already plus sized girl) infront of my ex that I have been split up with for 9 months lol we did the deed once when he came to collect his things and someone decided it was time to put a baby in me haha

They dont press hard on your tummy @ChantelleFirstBaby they do press hard on your tummy, and jiggle you about if they need the baby to wake up and move position. OP has had previous children, so knows this to be the case at the 12 week scan.

@ChantelleFirstBaby good luck with it! I took the full bladder instructions too seriously and she had to send me out to empty a bit! First baby for me too

ChantelleFirstBaby · 01/10/2021 17:34

I have an annoying bladder all my life I have gone to the toilet about 20 times a day and through the night also. I didnt realise how different I was until I would hear my ex do his morning pee his lasted for ages because his bladder would hold it in all night like its meant to. I drank water before my scan until I felt I would burst and she said It looks like my bladder was empty! lol I also had loads of shadowing due to my IBS apparently I am hoping I have better luck on Weds

So I survived my scan today!

I was distracted @Derbee and managed to really enjoy seeing my little bean bumping around. They were pretty irritated at being disturbed flailing around and was being really awkward in moving for measurements.

I did have to jump up and down with my gelled belly out in the hope to get them to shift...no such luck! 🤣

They did push down really hard on my abdomen due to stubborn baby but I was so distracted that my worries were miss placed.

Thanks for all your replies ♥️
