Hi,
Years ago I ahd CIN 3 LOOP/LEAP surgery to remove precancerous cells from my cervix. I am now pregnant ..... I am a little worried that complicantions will arise later on.
Has anyone else had this?

Thanks

I had this done in Jan this year and I am now 6 months pregnant. No-one seems concerned and I was TTC when they did it in Jan - the Dr just told me to get on with it!

Sure everything will be fine.

Sorry - it means Trying To Conceive. There is an acronym list somewhere on the site - it is essential reading!

have had 2 lots of treatment in last 10 years to freeze stuff off and consultant wasn't bothered.

expatinscotland · 06/12/2007 21:24

you should be fine, tbh.

i had loop procedure for CIN2 and it's caused NO complications in my two subsequent pregnancies and deliveries.

i became pregnant about a year and a half after my procedure.

remember, too, that a vaginal delivery is very effective for sloughing the cervix.

IIRC, it's only when a woman has had a endocervial/cone biopsy that there is a possibility of complications in later pregnancies.

good luck!

'Sloughing the cervix' - sounds like fun!

hi mum2b1,
i was referred to the consultant to check my cervix, when i went to see midwife at 10 weeks (am now 18 weeks), i would ask your doctor if you are worried. consultant looked at my cervix, like a smear, and said 'oh yes, i can see you've had some work done' !!! like it was looking at the bumper of a vw beetle!!! i also had an internal ultrasound to measure the cervical length, apparently in a few cases they have to put a stitch in so that the baby is carried to term, and also they have to know for labour as some cases the cervix doesn't open properly. if you search on mumsnet for the words cervix and CIN it pulls up lots of threads. but my doctor and consultant were reassuring so maybe go see them first don't get scared by what other ppl might have had happen!
love JBR

Had same treatment about 11 years ago now!
Smear tests all fine since.
Have a 3 yr old dd and currently 8 months pregnant and no probs to date during this or last pregnancy.
Good luck - I'd check if you are still concerned - I asked and was reassured! x
