Induction for cholestasis - so frightened

It's just before 3.30am and I cannot sleep as yesterday I learned I'll need to be induced due to cholestasis with my first baby. I'm absolutely devestated that I won't get the water birth I had prepared for and extremely fearful of the induction process. My bile acid levels have fluctuated from 17 to 5 back up to 15 so I've been given the option for my baby to be induced this Friday (37 weeks) or next (38 weeks).

I'm so worried and anxious that I honestly feel verging on suicidal. Please please if anyone has a positive story to share or any words of encouragement I could really use your support.
TIA xx

If you’re worried about the pain and possible interventions (instrumental birth, EMCS) do ask your midwife about an epidural. They work for the pain and they can often increase the anesthetic through the epidural if they need to for a C section or any interventions in a vaginal birth. It can be reassuring knowing if anything needs to happen, you won’t be in pain.

I hope you're ok OP. I wasn't aware that induced labour could be more painful. I had normal labour for about 10 hours then due to it slowing down I was induced and had about 8 hours of induced labour. I don't recall the pain being worse in the induced labour, in fact I seem to remember that part being easier as I sort of got used to the pain and knew what to expect.
I wanted a water birth too and was also very disappointed at the time that I didn't but once she was born I didn't really care about how it happened. Please try not to panic, it is true that once you are there you just get through it, I am not a strong person at all but I was fine.

Thanks all. Going to have a long chat with the midwife and hopefully get to a place of feeling ready.
