Is this it?!

I’m 38+4 today and having quite sore period type pains for the last 3 hours or so, not regular yet. My hip joints hurt and my back doesn’t feel quite right. No show or waters breaking. I’ve had lots of strong and uncomfortable braxton hicks throughout my pregnancy but tonight it doesn’t feel the same. Midwife yesterday said the baby is well engaged.

My husband is asleep in bed next to me but I’m too nervous, excited and uncomfortable to nod off in case this is it!

What do you think, is this it or maybe just a false alarm?!

My first labour was spontaneous at 37+4 due to preeclampsia and started with waters breaking, so I’m not familiar with this “is it/isn’t it” conundrum!

No idea, I had a section so didn’t experience labour starting but good luck if it is! You might have had a baby by the time I wake up tomorrow. How exciting 😊

Could be but I'd very much advise trying to get some sleep, if it does turn into anything then it will surely wale you up again, and you're gonna need the rest!

I'm exactly the same, 38+1 today and was having contractions every 30 minutes yesterday for a good few hours, now they've died down and I just feel like my bump has been hit by a lorry and I have hot forks poking me up there 😔 how are you feeling now?

When I went into labour with DD I had a strange, achy 'couldn't get comfortable' feeling in my back for a few days, no show, no waters breaking or anything and went into full labour about 3 days after this started 😊 I'm not saying this will happen to you, but things definitely started in my back with me. Thank you for the messages and Sorry for the slow update - no baby and no labour!

I eventually nodded off and woke up at 7 feeling absolutely normal (well as normal as you can at 38 weeks!) I have slightly sore hips and back again today so taking that to mean the baby is low. I’ll let you know if labour starts soon - fingers crossed @ECarmel
