Hi ladies can anyone advice me please . I am currently 4 weeks +2 days
Last 5 days i have had a abd shoulder pain . I woke up the day before my positive test with a shoulder pain . It only hurts when moving arm ... not sure what its called but pain is located just where you normally get the vaccine if you know what i mean . I have tried walking in centre , but there was more than hundred people in a queues outside and i wasnt going to queue outside in wind . Been on phone with 111 more than an hour without an answer ... can anyone advice me if this can be ectopic ? I know a lot of people dont get symptoms at all . But with this pain lasting 5 days already i feel extremely anxious

I'm no expert but I believe the shoulder pain from ectopic is generally more likely to be the very tip of the shoulder, however, I still think you should get checked out. Contact your local early pregnancy unit. It's surprising no answer with 111, maybe try them again too x

Definitely get checked out. As someone who has had an ectopic please, please do. Can you ring your early pregnancy unit direct? But, just to give you some reassurance shoulder pain with an ectopic is typically due to internal bleeding. This means it usually goes along with other symptoms that tell you something is significantly wrong and it would be unlikely to go on for 5 days without other symptoms.
But - get checked! It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
My ectopic symptoms were one sided lower abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding. For various reasons it wasn’t diagnosed and when my tube ruptured and I started bleeding internally there was absolutely no mistaking that something was very, very, very wrong. I went straight to A&E and was being operated on within hours.

I've had an ectopic and the days leading up to me being taken to hospital was I felt fainty a few nights before. I then had very very painful cramps on one side that wouldn't go away and I was then taken to hospital. I did get shoulder sharpness on the tip but it wasn't a pain quite hard to explain. Everyone is different but if you do get any of these sympoms please go to hospital. I ended up with with ruptured tube and hemorrhage ending up with my tube removed. I don't want to scare you but if I can give any advice please get seen no matter how long it takes. I might be nothing but if it is an ectopic they might beable to treat it without surgery. Try early pregnancy unit and 111 again if not I would be tempted to go to a&e to be on the safe side. Good luck

Also that it only hurts with movement is a good sign. Referred pain isn’t associated with movement.
But don’t wait - get a medical opinion.

I had shoulder tip pain on and off, also had pain top of arm roughly where you would get a vaccine. I didn't bleed with the arm or shoulder pain, I got two scans and both showed baby was in the right position and all was ok. So although it could be nothing, it is best to get checked out otherwise you will worry yourself sick. Good luck

If it’s pain where you get vaccines then that’s at the top of your arm? Not your shoulder?

Yeah its top of the arm actually . I have been to walk in centre and been told its not where you normally get pain if it was ectopic

I have been to walk in centre ans they told me shoulder pain in ectopic is a bit higher located , mine is in top arm ... she said its probably just a nerve ... also i have had it for 5 days means if it was internal bleed would have had other symptoms by now

I had “atypical” symptoms of an ectopic too (later learned they were common symptoms, but the GPs I saw were inexperienced). Several GP appointments later, I was almost convinced it was all in my head…

It was a nurse I saw about something else who encouraged me to call the early pregnancy unit. Thankfully, because it was indeed ectopic!

It might be nothing, or it might be ectopic. The only way to know for sure is with a scan. Ectopics can and do kill. It’s not worth the risk. Call your local early pregnancy unit and get checked.

19annie86 · 30/09/2021 07:21

No mine was not ectopic, but I would still get it checked out

GoodnightGrandma · 30/09/2021 07:22

Sounds like rotator cuff from where you are saying the pain is.

What i was told its too early to see anything anyway . And then they say the pain i get is in arm which is not a location for shoulder pain in ectopic and she also said if it was means that would mean internal bleeding for at least 5 days so would have other symptoms

I have been sent in for a scan before my period was due (I am TTC and it was a cyst).

4 weeks is not too early.

“ The diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy may sometimes be difficult, and symptoms may occur from as early as 4 weeks pregnant ”

ectopic.org.uk/ectopic-pregnancy-symptoms/

Tippytaps · 30/09/2021 23:31

They also take bloods. If the pregnancy hormones don’t double in 48 hours then they worry.

Having had one ectopic, the risk of another is high. Every pregnancy I get checked at 5 weeks, earlier when I had pain.

DressedUpAtAnIvy · 30/09/2021 23:33

I found shoulder tip pain really clear and specific when I had it, but before I wouldn’t have really understood which bit hurts.
