It may get worse, but then yes, it will get better.

I’m pregnant with my second (as per my username!) and weeks 7-9 I think were my worst last time. But I remember being 14 weeks on Christmas Day and eating pretty much normally so must have been recovered by then!
I’m only 5 weeks this time and remembering why I spent the whole of the first trimester last time swearing I’d never be pregnant again.

A7522 · 28/09/2021 21:17

I’ve just made an account tonight to try and reach out to others feeling the same way and I was relieved to see your message! Im 8wks and just had a melt down tonight because I’m so fed up of feeling sick and nauseous. I don’t enjoy anything I’m eating and I’m full and sooo bloated after a tiny amount. I then felt so so guilty for being upset about it as deep down I am so grateful to be pregnant. I’ve also just got over a bad flu/cold so just feeling bored of being unwell. I just hope this feeling passes. I even struggle to drink as nothing at all takes my fancy! Im making sure I’m drinking plenty water but feel like boaking when sipping it. It has to get better right?!

Furmummy · 28/09/2021 21:23

Thank you so much for your reply! I’m sorry your feeling the same .. but congratulations on your pregnancy. I love food and hate not being able to enjoy eating! Yep I was expecting it to get worse then better … well hopefully by Christmas we can enjoy our Christmas dinners! How are your other symptoms x

@A7522 thank you for your reply- am sorry your also feeling like this. How long have you been feeling like this? It’s so tough and exhausting .. and I am only 1 week into it, so really feel for you. Yep I feel the same, I didn’t think we could have children and found out I am pregnant so feel so guilty for complaining .. but it’s not fun .. know it will get better … but it’s hard right now. I feel the same, even drinking is not enjoyable … I have tried every cordial possible this week .. everything tastes yuck!!! How are your other symptoms xxx

A7522 · 28/09/2021 21:35

@Furmummy snap with the cordial! Orange was fine for a few days but now churning my stomach!! Other symptoms… really sore boobs but that’s about it. I sometimes feel like I have period pain/cramps but I’m confused now as to what is sickness and what isn’t. I now can’t wait for 12wks, have some reassurance that all is good at the scan and also be almost over the sickness period!! And yes, I will enjoy my Christmas dinner! Haha! I was very lucky that these feeling so it started Friday! So I’m only 5days in but that’s after about 9days of having flu. I really hope you don’t have this until 12weeks! I tried mindfulness breathing this morning and counting my breaths. It helped a bit and I managed to get back to sleep for an hour… could be worth trying? x

Furmummy · 28/09/2021 21:51

@A7522 yep I can’t do orange now either … today I managed a Ribena but gone off that now also 🤦‍♀️ Yes I have been having cramps too for the last week. I said to my hubby while feeling like this I am not concerned as feel it’s definitely progressing if I feel this awful! But yes roll on 12 weeks as that is a big hurdle. Is this your first? It’s mine so all this is quite new to me … ooooo I might try that as I used to use that for other stuff and found it helpful. I have been off work today (day off) but have slept all day so currently sleep is ok, it’s just when I am awake I feel horrid. Oh gosh you have had a rough 2 weeks with the flu and this … hopefully you start feeling better soon. If it gets worse maybe speak to the doctor about anti sickness meds? I am going to give it another week, but if still feeling awful think I may phone Up Xx

@Furmummy yes, my first! I am going to kick my best friend in the butt for not warning me about these things!! I’ve never known a pregnant woman to share this with me! Haha. I have a phone appt with midwives on Thursday, is it known as booking in appt? Again, all so new! I spoke to doctor last week when I had flu and she reassured me not to worry and that baby would be fine! High calorie snacks and water were all I needed. Thankfully I didn’t have sickness during the flu, it started once I got a bit better. x

Furmummy · 29/09/2021 07:41

Haha yep, tbh most people I know have never suffered too badly with it. I have no idea about appointments, I have not informed anyone yet. - this is my first and I am clueless. I will ring today and try and register with the midwives. That’s good that it didn’t affect you when poorly, hopefully if your 8 weeks already it might not last too long, I hope so for you as wouldn’t wish this on anyone! Woke up and feel sick from the get go today … apparently pineapple juice is a no no too 🤦‍♀️

I'm 10 weeks, have been feeling like this since just before 7 weeks x I don't think it's gotten better yet but it's gotten more manageable x I find really Cold apple juice helps and I've been drinking flavoured Volvic water as can't stand water otherwise x food wise- anything that sounds good I eat it and roll with it, and that works better than forcing things x snacks are a must- rich tea and digestive biscuits to snack on when I can't eat much have been a life saver x looking forward to 12 weeks, hoping to eat more normally but not holding my breath 😆

Somerandomgirl · 29/09/2021 12:18

I think around week 8 was better with the appetite.. as for the nausea am 16+ and still feel rotten....

A7522 · 29/09/2021 13:27

@Teaandcrumpets95 I bought apple juice yesterday! Strange! And I did enjoy it this morning with breakfast! I’m also just rolling with whatever takes my fancy, but today I really want a McDonald’s 🤣 I am not giving in to that one though!

A7522 · 30/09/2021 08:38

Oh my, it’s bad this morning! 🤢 some days are so much worse than others! Not even like I can sleep it off! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Furmummy · 01/10/2021 16:18

How’s everyone getting on? I had a few days where I could sort of enjoy food, back to being queasy again but managing to eat more .. worries me now when I don’t feel sick?!? Does anyone else worry about that?

OP posts:
A7522 · 01/10/2021 17:17

@Furmummy aw I am so glad you’re feeling a bit better! I feel ok today, but yesterday was truly awful! I went to the shop today to get some food in and the car journey made me queasy but a rich tea put it away quickly! I tend to get what I was calling ‘period pains’ but now call ‘growing pains’ 🤣 and they keep me reassured everything is fine! Also had my booking in appt yesterday so I’m now in the system and that’s weirdly given me some added reassurance! Can’t wait for the 12wk scan now! Other half ordered a Chinese so I’m going to try some chips and ketchup! Can’t wait to have a proper Chinese on a Friday night again soon! 🤣🥰

Furmummy · 01/10/2021 17:38

@A7522 oh noooo sorry you had a awful day yesterday … I am not enjoying going in the car, that definitely makes things worse. What happened at your appt? I filled in a self referral form today so hoping to hear back in the next week or so. That makes it a more real I imagine going through things with the midwife ? I am totally off Chinese now, had one just over a week ago and all my favourite stuff makes me want to vomit. No idea what I want again tonight, going for chicken Goujon sandwich .. also finding I am drinking loads .. are you super thirsty? Xx

@Furmummy I have a ‘foamy’ mouth these days! That sounds so gross eh! But I am drinking and weeing a lot! It was a phone appt. took 50mins and went through so many questions, family medical history, mental health etc etc. I just signed into the app they use and I have my first scan on November 2nd. We think we might go for a private scan before then… I’m too impatient 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 x

Furmummy · 01/10/2021 17:52

Yep I know what you mean about the foamy mouth .. can’t wait to enjoy food again 🤣 oooo that sounds good looking forward to starting the process off. I have one with EPAU next week as they have been monitoring me due to previous loss and also I got told I couldn’t have children so when I found out I was pregnant they saw me to confirm the pregnancy as I didn’t believe it 🤦‍♀️ So hoping to see a heartbeat this week .. I imagine I will still want an early scan by 10/11 weeks though as am inpatient too xx
