10 weeks 5 days and just got some bleeding

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for advice. I am 10 wks 5 days pregnant, have been lucky with no sickness just sore uncomfortable boobs. But today I noticed a few drops of blood when I went for a wee, midwife said nothing to worry about and to use a pad to keep an eye on it. There is now a few drops on the pad, quite red. I am starting to panic as I miscarried in Dec 2020 and my boobs have stopped hurting in the last 2 days. No dating scan yet, I have been chasing this with no joy so far... Any advice?

Can you go for a private scan? Places like window to the womb are open until 8.30pm

stormelf · 28/09/2021 17:39

Is your local epu self referral? I had a bleed at 10 weeks, the epu saw me the next day for a scan. Everything was okay and the bleed was unexplained, however at my 12 week scan there was signs of old bleeding which could've explained it. If you have an epu I would call them tomorrow, in my experience (this is my third pregnancy) they have always been extremely helpful

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 28/09/2021 17:42

I had lots of bleeding up until about 20 weeks in my first pregnancy. All turned out fine. It’s hard to just not worry though isn’t it even when the midwife says that.
I was usually able to be seen at EPU after any bleeding, is there one near you? How much longer to wait until your first scan otherwise?

tigerbear · 28/09/2021 17:43

Good luck OP.
I know how terrifying this can be.
I also MC in my first pregnancy, getting pregnant again exactly a year later and experienced huge amounts of bleeding when I first found out I was pregnant, then a small amount again at around 4 months.
It’s all very scary, but it doesn’t always mean the worst.
Sending hope and hugs.

My local epu isn't self referal, last time I still had to wait over a week before they could book me in despite fairly heavy bleeding for almost 2 weeks. I am considering booking a private scan just for peace of mind, as my scan department are not answering (I've tried over 200 calls today!) my midwife is trying to reassure me that it's normal and said to call epu if it gets heavier which it hasn't, it's not heavy. I've been reading Alot of positive experiences on here but I'm a worrier so maybe a private scan is the best option right now?

Thank you all!
I haven't had a letter for my first scan yet, I have been trying to get a date for the last week as I haven't told anyone other than my partner and need to book time off work as I don't want to announce it until we know everything is OK. I'm worrying about telling my partner too as he was absolutely heartbroken last time, I don't want him to panic which I know he will

I had this at 10+4. Bright red blobs. EPU wouldn't see me as it wasn't heavy; and I couldn't get a private scan - most places had no availability, the one that did strongly advised me to wait for my 12 week scan - I didn't get notified of that until 3 days before, either.

I'm 28 weeks now and everything is fine. We never found the cause, but put it down to the high hormone levels making my cervix bleed.

Best of luck to you Flowers

Disney19 · 28/09/2021 18:08

@TakeYourFinalPosition I've just had a look at my local private places and most are fully booked too, the only one that has availability this week has 1* and terrible reviews.
I'm glad everything is OK with you, gives me some hope! Hope you're enjoying the pregnancy now x
Annoying you only got 3 days notice but I guess we don't have a choice in that.
I think because my boobs are not feeling sore/uncomfortable for a few days, I've just jumped to the worst conclusion after seeing some bleeding. I'm trying to relax as I put a fresh pad in almost 2 hours ago and there's nothing, just a smear when I wipe so🤞🏻I need to think positively and calm down as I'm sure stressing out won't help

That’s frustrating that you can’t get a private scan, but you will hopefully get a date for your 12 week scan soon.
As hard as it is, try as much as you can to distract yourself and not think about it until now. And remember, at this stage it is far more likely that everything will be absolutely fine.

Disney19 · 28/09/2021 19:13

There is a small Amount on the pad now, I spoke too soon.
I'm still looking, I drive so can go a bit further if there's any availability anywhere else.
Out of curiosity, I mentioned to my midwife at my booking app that I wasn't sure if my last period was actually a period or if it could have been implantation bleeding as it was very light for 2-3 days and only needed panty liners so I'm not actually positive I am 10+5, it could be 14+3 but this was brushed off. Is there a distinct difference where you could be 100% positive about IB?

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 28/09/2021 19:36

Oh sorry, try not to let the bleeding freak you out. I had a few quite heavy bleeds with my daughter around that stage (scary at the time but all turned out fine).
Im not too sure if you would be able to tell the difference between a period and implantation bleeding easily. When did you get your BFP? A private scan should be able to give you an idea of dates though so would be good if you can find an appointment.

Disney19 · 28/09/2021 19:50

I'm trying to stay calm but after last time, it's hard.
Got my bfp on 16th August as my period tracker app told me I was approx 1 week late. The positive cross appeared almost instantly. It probably was just a light period but I'm an overthinking and paranoid about absolutely everything.
I'm looking further afield for somewhere private and will call the epu too in case they can get me in sooner.
Thanks for your responses, they're lifting my spirits and keeping me Hopeful x

Really hard to say on the dates. I’d probably class it as a period and wait to see what the scan says.
Hope you manage to get a scan in soon. Sending lots of positive vibes your way xx

@WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy thank so you much! Appreciate your help x

@Disney19 I hope your feeling ok! Did you manage to find anywhere for a private scan? I know it’s hard not to stress. I have fingers & toes crossed all is ok for you.

Disney19 · 28/09/2021 21:39

Unfortunately not for today/tomorrow, next available one I found was for Friday so I've booked that but im going to call the epu first thing in the morning again.
Thank you, I really appreciate it! So Glad mumsnet exists as everyone is so helpful positive xx

Good luck, I know how scary it can be if you see blood and have no way of knowing why.

Have you had sex recently as that used to make me bleed a little in the first trimester?

Disney19 · 29/09/2021 22:19

Update, it was a miscarriage. I woke up about 330am to be sick and as soon as I stood up there was a massive gush of fluid/blood, followed by hours of heavy bleeding with clots/tissue. The pain was extortionate, I couldn't sleep and kept vomiting so any paracetamol I took didn't stay in my system. I called the epu as soon as they opened who advised me to go to A&E as they had no free appointments left. We got there around 815am and After 6 hours in A&E on pain relief drips, I was transferred to gynaecology, had a scan around 7pm which confirmed everything.
I have been advised to stay in due to low blood pressure and possibility I may need a surgery to remove remaining tissue and even a blood transfusion. I'm hoping that is a last resort and my body will do its job.
I wouldn't wish this in my worst enemy, the pain alone was by far the worst thing I've ever experienced.
Thanl you all for your kind words and support, it is very appreciated! ♥
Wishing you all well on your journeys xx

@Disney19 I’m so so sorry to hear that. Look after yourself OP, I wish you all the best. Flowers

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 29/09/2021 22:49

I’m so very sorry to hear that @Disney19. Have been thinking of you today.
I hope that you’re able to go home soon and that you have a good support network. I know there are some good charities out there offering support if you need someone to talk things through with.
Sending massive hugs Flowers

Alexand23 · 30/09/2021 07:18

Bloody hell, I am so so sorry. I followed your thread as was sure you would get a good news at your scan. I hope you have good support at home. Take care x

Disney19 · 30/09/2021 15:10

Thank you all, unfortunately it's one of those things. My OH managed to stay with me the entire time, has been amazing even tho I know he is devastated.
The pain has subsided now, it's just a case of my body doing what it needs to do.
Hopefully, if we try again in the future things will be better and I will pestering for scans and going for private check ups as early as possible.
Thanks again for all your support, it means Alot and is great to have people to talk to honestly 💐 ♥

I'm so sorry to hear this. If there's any good here it's that your body recognised it and dealt with it naturally. I wish you all the best for the future. I had two miscarriages and am now 18w but I had weekly scans from 6-12 weeks x

Disney19 · 30/09/2021 21:09

Oh that's lovely to hear, gives me hope for the future!
Glad everything is going well for you! Hope you have a smooth rest of your journey!
Good luck ♥
