Faint positives at six weeks

Hi,

I needed to write a post because I have no idea what is going on with my body.

About four weeks ago now I tested positive for pregnancy with strong tests for a week. They then started getting fainter and I had a small light bleed for two days. I went to the EPU and they said my scan didn’t detect any pregnancy and they weren’t sure if it was too early to see anything or whether I was having an early miscarriage.
Since then my positives got darker again and I’ve had some super dark FRERs and strip tests. But I’m also having really faint positives.

My GP wants me in for blood tests to see what is going on so I’ll be going next week.

Has anyone been through the same thing ? I don’t know whether I miscarried and I’m still testing positive but it’s been three weeks now or whether I’m pregnant and my hcg levels are playing up.

I’m so confused. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Are you testing at different times of the day? urine dilution can make a difference. Or with different brands of tests? I’m not sure I can help to be honest - but blood tests at the DR will give you a good idea. Hoping for the best xx

Google the “hook effect.” Sometimes once HCG is super high the test gets lighter. If you get a light test, try diluting the urine 50:50 with water and retesting - if it’s the hook effect, it should be darker.

I started getting this around 6 weeks I think.

I've tried diluting my wee it doesn't come back darker. So I don't think it's the hook effect. I've had positives on frers and Superdrug own brand, and strip tests but I've had negatives on CB and internet cheapies. Just don't know what is going on had loads of cramping but no bleeding and my tests just aren't getting darker it's been six weeks now. Feel like crying just want to know what is going on.
