my mind got to fantasing about how the birth would be on my commute home...

here's what went thru my niave first timer head as i stood swaying ob the 20.14 from Clapham Junction.

Kind of starts in the wee hours. for the drama, like.

wake up the husband off we pop to hospital

a few hours in hospital hanging out we get one of the single ensuite rooms on 7th floor overlooking westminster and the thames.

text my shiatsu therapist who is gagging to be at birth at about 8am. miraculously, she's free and jumps on her bike.

she arrives, massueses me while DH pops off for some breakfast.

on his return, massuesing's finished and the chi so successfully redirected that birth proper's about to start.

yogic birth lasting oooooohh.... lets say 35min????

babs is fine, i'm fine.

bit more hanging out. leave hospital bang on the six hour dot. me wearing the new Hush loungewear bottoms someone's thoughtfully bought me for xmas. babs in the Katvig bodysuit i've designated as her Going Home For the First Time outfits. It's a perfect fit.......

I had a pre-labour emergency section with my first as his heart rate was dropping and all hell broke loose.

With my second I did very little preparation and ended up with an epidural early on, ventouse and episitomy and loaaaadddsss of stiches.

So when got pg with my third I went to breathing and relaxation classes and learnt how to move and breathe through contractions etc - and how to focus on each contraction - and it worked.

I was so pleased with myslef and dh was ecstatic as it was a 'proper exciting birth' . I didn;t have any pain relief at all and they had to coax me out of the car to get me into delivery - came within 10 minutes - they asked my name after the birth!!!!!

That sounds great octo. I had emergency section with first, after a very long labour and ds1 heart rate dropped. They knocked me out for section and lachted him on for his first bf while I was still unconscious. They told me afterwards that if they had not of got him out when they did he would of died. With ds2 also very long labour then I lost alot of blood and passed out while they yanked him out with forceps. I really want to have a normal nice birth, but thinking it might be safer and more control having planned section at least I know I will be awake. I glad things worked out good finallly

Can totally understand your decision Orangehead - it really is a tough call to make. at one point he was also coming up big on scans which pushed me towards having a section but the classes/doula was fantastic and I felt confident I could do it.

Good luck xxx
