My dp has quite kindly suggested that we get more help with the cleaning while I am in the first trimester and not feeling up to doing very much around the house. I think he's also worried that the state of our house might make our ds1's asthma worse. So he's decided to book a company to come and do a 'deep clean' of the house.
In principle, I like this idea. I just have a couple of concerns - how can I be sure that they will use cleaning products that aren't dangerous for our unborn child? Does anyone know of specific chemicals that I should be avoiding? I will be out of the house during the day anyway but we will all be coming back and staying there that night.
And if I tell them not to use bleach, furniture polish etc (which to be honest I don't like using anyway) how can I know they will be trustworthy? I might be wrong in thinking this, but it seems to me that many cleaners/cleaning companies like the big brand names because they believe that's what works - I have certainly had cleaners telling me before that they'd be happier if I just let them put bleach down the loo etc.
So I suppose I'm wondering if anyone has either (a) info about what should really be avoided in pregnancy, so I can be specific instead of just sounding like a paranoid woman with a bump
and (b) any experience of having done this kind of thing while pregnant.
now I just have to do a teensy bit of decluttering before I let them into our poor neglected house...
thank you
