Morning everyone 😊💖

So yesterday I went for a reassurance scan as my last period was the 15th of August, my scan said 2-3 weeks on the 15th of September.

When I was at my scan there was just a sack, the woman who was doing the scan said I must be earlier than what she thinks 🙈 and to go back in 3 weeks for a re scan I can't help but be worried sick.

She never told me to seek medical advice or go for help so is that okay?

Should I not be worried?

This is my first time being pregnant too so excuse me for all the questions 🙈🙈

( It won't let me upload a picture of my scan )

If your last period was on the 15th Aug then you'd be around 6 weeks (maybe slightly less depending on when you ovulated). I've never had a scan that early but from what I've read, that sounds quite normal. All the best when you go back in a few weeks. :)

Was your scan an NHS one? A private one with an obstetrician? Or one of the high street souvenir scan places? If either of the former they will have full checks and I would do as they suggest and go back in a few weeks. If the latter then you should see a medical professional be rescanned and discuss the results. Either contact your EPU/EPC or GP. I had an early scan due to bleeding on the NHS and they were great but there was no heartbeat (I was asked if my dates were wrong) babies don’t grow along a linear line and at my follow up 2 weeks later the heartbeat was seen clearly. It is really worrying so my thoughts are with you.

Early scan at 5+3 and no heartbeat. Then scanned 2 weeks later. My EDD ended up being earlier than I’d thought so according to my dates would have actually meant I was 6+3 with no heartbeat.

Sounds normal for your dates! I was around 5
Weeks with my first (NHS checking for ectopic) and it was just a yolk sac to start with. Had a private scan at 8 weeks and could see a blob with arms and legs and a heartbeat! Dates can often be all over especially if you don't know when you ovulated. In my last pregnancy 3 years ago I was a week and a half out! So I ended up being around 6 weeks instead of about 8. As long as there is no bleeding or pain,
It all sounds normal Smile keep us updated with your next scan!

I ovulated on the 31st of August x

@MC22 it’s perfectly reasonable you’d only see a sac and not much else. I always book early scans for 5 weeks after ovulation as you’re much more likely to see a heartbeat.

Congratulations!

Lynne425 · 26/09/2021 10:21

This is perfectly normal - my local private scan facility don't take you before 6 weeks as they said you can't see anything before then.

I've my early scan booked for 17th October when I should be around 7 weeks

Good luck to you xx
