Hello all,
This is my first post, and I've just recently joined Mumsnet and would like to say how much I'm enjoying it.
I'm hoping to find out if anyone has had a similar experience to this.
My DD 32, settled, good job own house etc has recently found out she's pregnant.
However she has been bleeding constantly for 7 weeks. She has had 3 scans, the first two she was told to just wait and see what happens and they couldn't tell her where the blood was coming from.
However on Thursday she started to get painful cramping with heavy blood loss, she was booked into the EPU for a scan on Friday. She had fully expected them to say that she had had a miscarriage, but lo and behold the foetus is still there! They said she has some bruising and her body is trying to expel the blood, and that everything is fine. I've never heard of this before. The scan says 8 weeks 2 days I think and the foetus measures 4.5 cm... after googling it seems too big for 8 weeks so maybe she's further along than they think, because she's been bleeding for so long, she maybe thought the 'bleed' was a period when she was already pregnant. Whilst we are erring on the side of caution, I'm hoping this will settle and everything will be ok. I just wondered if anyone else has experienced anything similar?
