Cervical Stitch at 22+6 weeks - any success stories?

As the title says I'm 22+6 this morning. Went for a scan yesterday to find cervix almost fully open and gad an emergency stitch put in to hopefully buy me time. We're now going to take it day by day with a "chance" but I'm looking at a prolonged stay in hospital until 28 weeks - I've previously had a loss at 20 weeks and a ruptured ectopic so know what can happen.

Has this happened to anyone with a positive outcome?

I know exactly what your going through, I had a stich out in place at 22wks and made it to 35 weeks on bed rest. Just take each day as it comes. It's incredibly stressful and worrying time. Keep positive and enjoy the rest x

Yes me too! I had almost the exact same (emergency stitch at 22 weeks when they saw open cervix and bulging waters) and lasted to 35 weeks (on modified bed/sofa rest). It's so so stressful but I've heard a lot of other good outcomes too xxx

Oh amazing thank you both! I've been on Dr Google all night and stressed myself out. So pleased to hear you had good outcomes really pleased for you both and it's also given me a boost! I cannot express how much I appreciate your responses!

I am on those FB and they are so helpful. I've had to have a pre pregnancy TAC stitch placed for any future pregnancies as I have so little cervix left after treatment for pre cancerous cells. Stay off Google lovely!

@Keepitrealnomists and @mitzi2019 out of interest did you stay in hospital until 28 weeks? Or were you discharged home with instructions to remain on bedrest?

@lovingtheheat hello - no, I was discharged a day or two after they put the stitch in and given an app at their premature high risk clinic which was every two weeks. They did internal scans at the clinic to check how my cervix was doing and fetal fibronectin tests (which check for risk of going into labour imminently). When I was about 24 weeks they readmitted me after I had a very high fetal fibronectin score so I was stuck in the antenatal ward for two weeks. But somehow after two weeks my fibronectin score had gone way down and they said I could go home on modified bed rest aka hanging out on the sofa and trying not to move too much. But a lot of my doctors/midwives gave conflicted advice on bedrest to be honest - some said it was pointless and advised against it because of the risk of blood clots/being depressed but in my particular case they could see that when they pushed down on my bump my cervix literally tried to pull against the stitch so they were more pro trying to avoid walking around too much. I ended up back home from 26 weeks to 35 weeks (got signed off work) and watched a huge amount of Netflix and tried not to stress :) easier said than done. It will all be worth it soon fingers crossed and it does end up being a pretty distant memory. My son is nearly two now and I'm thinking of trying for a second despite all the palaver of number one!

How are you feeling what have hospital advised you? Feel free to pm me if you like xx
