Hi. I'm wondering if someone can clarify this for me please. I am 24 weeks pregnant and have just afew days ago written to my employer in writing and provided my MATB1 form to notify them of my pregnancy and when I'd like my leave to start. I work 16 hours per week earning roughly £139 however I've been on furlough and being getting 80% since last October or November whenever it started up again. I've read on gov website that you have to earn £120 per week to qualify for smp but will I be penalised for being on furlough as it will have been lower than this or will they take it on what I'd normally earn ? Also Im aware maternity allowance is a thing but my employer will have to fill out a smp1 form refusing smp first in order for me to beable to apply for this. None of the 7 reasons of the refusal apply to me I don't think. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me understand its so stressful 🙏😩🤣!

Your salary will be based on pay in weeks 17-25 of pregnancy. If the pay was lower due to furlough then it should be based on your usual salary rather than the furlough amount

Sorry I mean your maternity pay is based on what you earned in weeks 17-25
