Heavy bleeding at 12 weeks - is there still hope?

My SIL is expecting a baby and she's 12 weeks and has been bleeding since Saturday on and off. Scans are fine so far, but how worrying is it? Does anybody have any experiences?

A friend of mine had this at 12 weeks and she now has a 10 week old baby. The doctor thinks she may have lost a twin, but they weren't sure at all. It was very very heavy.

I hope your SIL is okay.

Is it a sub-chorionic haemorrhage? They can often produce scary amounts of blood but resolve themselves in the end.
