Bleeding again

Hi all,

Have been bleeding last few weeks, had a scan last Friday and they showed me my baby with a heartbeat and confirmed I’m 6.5 weeks.

Was advised to go A&E over the weekend after passing a large clot and saw the EG and she confirmed my cervix is closed.

The bleeding stopped this week until today and it’s very heavy again with mild cramping.

I have a new scan on Friday but am not feeling very positive now.

The symptoms seem to go with a threatened miscarriage but I’m trying not to get my hopes up.

Would anyone know why I might be bleeding so much?

Thank you for the support, it’s just so frustrating and is just a rollercoaster of emotions. I hope your outcome is positive Emma and wish you all the best.

UPDATE: woke up this morning in a lot of pain, bleeding heavily and have now just past very large clots.

It’s hard for me not to go work as am the only one on the office this week but am only in for a few hours and then working from home.

Going to call the EG unit and update them as my scan is still tomorrow.

Am not hopeful. Has anyone else had this and what was the outcome?

Update: So baby is fine! Doctors were shocked when they saw my little baby safe and sound and with a heartbeat after reading the notes on my bleeding and clots.

They first suspected I may have had twins and lost one but they have concluded that it is a sub chorionic bleed.

Said there is a low chance now of a miscarriage but I should monitor the bleeding.

I hope I can give some hope to those who are bleeding in early weeks of pregnancy.

Am so relieved and happy that baby is ok.

Thanks for the support on here x

@hellray I’ve just read your thread for the first time and You must be so relieved, what a horrible week you’ve had. Try to rest up this weekend and I hope the bleeding stops soon x

Yeah hasn’t been the best start but am hoping it calms and bleeding stops as baby grows. Am getting lots of rest and thank you for the kind words.

Thank you, I’m feeling very relieved now I have some answers. Also the bleeding has slowed a lot now but I feel prepared if it does get a bit heavy again.

I have the usual cramps that come with pregnancy and it was just amazing to see my baby so early in its development on the scan. Was so cute and chunky like a little teddy bear. Makes me more motivated to keep a healthy diet and to quit smoking.

Hey hun, I am currently 11 weeks, experienced bleeding at 7 & 9 weeks, had scans at EPU & everything was fine.
This week I had heavy bleeding and passed clots, so obviously thought the worst, but saw & heard a heartbeat! Still got a long way to go, but I’m with you on the worrying 🙈

Pinkandpink · 25/09/2021 16:50

I bled the first 5 months with my first 11 years ago. It seemed to be every month, same time I bled. I hated even going to the toilet in case. Scans showed everything was fine and the doctors put it down to hormones in the end. It’s worrying though. I didn’t enjoy my pregnancy at all.

Oooh so glad I’m not alone in this and so happy to hear it’s still going well for you despite the bleeding.

I’m preparing myself that I might bleed again and am stopping sex at the moment. Husband isn’t too happy.

It is frustrating and worrying but am glad I have mumsnet to go to now.

Aww sounds awful and can definitely relate. Saying hormones would be the cause seems really bad on the doctors. There should be more research put into why some of us bleed throughout pregnancy and find ways to help it in my opinion.

@hellray how did you go? I have had bleeding today I'm 5+5, scan next week but I'm just not hopeful - seems a lot of blood has been lost plus my Boobs stopped hurting.
Hope everything worked out with your little one x

hellray · 03/11/2021 12:16

@laurenGame I had another big bleed, then caught COVID-19 not sure if it was the cause but there was speculation that COVID didn’t help and I went on to miscarry at 9 weeks unfortunately.

Obviously devastated as the EPU said that most sub-chorionic bleeds go on to be healthy pregnancies but I don’t think COVID helped.

I really hope it isn’t the case for you however this would be my second now and am still hopefully when I start trying again as lots of women still go on to have healthy pregnancies after miscarrying.

Best of luck! Try not to think too much about it until you get your scan. Every scan I had the baby was healthy and doing fine and I was bleeding a lot but I always expected the worst.

@hellray so sorry to hear that. Wish you all the best for the future. 🥰

laurenGame · 03/11/2021 22:40

Thanks @hellray , oh I'm so sorry to hear that 😢 the more I've read about sub-chorionic the more it shows that it can have either outcome (miscarriage or birth) - but we are never in the 'safe' zone until baby arrives. Which is a v long time of worrying. Not how I imagined my pregnancy to go but what can you do.
I hope you get a BFP soon and go on to have a successful pregnancy 💝
