Scan tomorrow - worried

Hi,

I have my nhs 12 week scan tomorrow but will actually be 13+5.

I had a private scan at around 8 weeks due to contracting covid during early pregnancy and being worried about this.

In the private scan we were informed that we are having twins - a lovely suprise but something I have worried about ever since. Both babies appeared to be in separate sacks and had strong heartbeats.

Since learning we are having twins all I have done is panic about something going wrong with one/both of them. I'm really worried that tomorrows nhs scan is going to only show 1 baby or show that there are abnormalities with them.

Is it normal to feel so worried and fearful about this on the run up to the scan?

This is the first time I have managed to get pregnant successfully and my mind is going 1000 miles a minute Confused

It's totally normal to be nervous/panicky in the run up to a scan. You've already seen heartbeats which is fabulous, and means the chance of anything going wrong is already lower. Big hugs, and I hope all is well for you.

I was terrified coming up to the scan. Like you, I had a private scan at 8 weeks and saw this tiny little thing on screen (single pregnancy for me!) and somehow that made me more nervous for the medical scan. We actually ended up having quite a bad 12 weeks scan experience (she couldn't find the baby so had to scan internally, which made me bleed - which made me panic. all ended up being okay though), which didn't help and then when it came to the 20 week scan I was very panicked. Luckily, all is well with our baby. You have to remember, MOST pregnancies go well. Even with multiples, MOST pregnancies are successful. But it is natural to worry.
