baby kicks with anterior placenta

Hi everyone

I'm wondering what your first baby movements and kicks felt like with an anterior placenta?

I'm 18 weeks today and I'm getting some dull pains (like jabbing) on the right and left of my stomach - I've not experienced this before... freaking me out slightly!

Could this be baby moving around?

Maybe. Mine felt like popping. Probs felt them properly around 21 weeks

Snap with the 21 weeks. Nothing convincing before that, but proper unmistakable jabs after that.

At around week 20 I started feeling slight popping and fluttering, but in all honesty, at that point, I was still unsure if it was just my digestive system, as the sensations were very subtle. I would not describe them as a pain.

They gradually got stronger and more obviously baby, and at around week 23 I started to be able to feel the kicks external with my hands. Again, pain isn't the word I'd use to describe it.

There are a lot of reasons you could be feeling jabbing pains during pregnancy tho, hormones and gas etc.

Thanks everyone, a family member of mine thinks it could be round ligament pains, but in a different form to what I usually have...

Can't wait to start feeling kicks! X

@dg93 Hi, I'm only 14 weeks, my 12 week scan said I had an anterior placenta. I can feel the baby pressing up against my skin. I thought with the placenta there that I wouldn't feel it, but I do!

I am 21 weeks and not felt anything definate yet. some little tickles but no idea if that is baby or not

I've been describing what I've been feeling since 16 weeks as someone is scraping the inside of my womb with fork. It's not painful but not pleasant either. I've had IVF and various examinations in my womb so I know what it feels like- this is definitely in my womb! But I get confused when I hear people talk about flutters, tickles and bubbles popping. That all sounds so different from what I'm feeling. I'm having these low pains as well that made me think I have a UTI. They checked my urine and it all came back clear. Today I discussed it with the midwife and we had a scan it all looked fine for the time being. She listened to my fork feeling and just said women have very individual experiences. The pains could just be the womb stretching. There seemed to be no concerns at all.

I started feeling baby at around 18 weeks (possibly around 17 and a half). For me it felt like an internal flicking/pulse sensation initially. I had my 20 week scan yesterday (at 20+5) and found out my placenta is anterior which has surprised me as I’m already feeling kicks that can be felt from the outside. I definitely feel less on the left side though so perhaps my placenta is more over that side. Everyone is so so different but if you consider a more painful feeling, have a chat with your midwife (could be round ligament though!)

I’m 26 weeks and just starting to feel more. Up to this point it’s been flutters (feels like internal gas 😂). She did boot me once or twice but that’s it.

I have an anterior placenta too and I started feeling kicks at 20 weeks exactly. It felt like little twitches in the lower part of my stomach.
They were especially strong after eating that my husband was able to see my skin move on the outside.
It's the most lovely reassuring feeling.
Hopefully you feel some soon. I was so worried because I hadn't felt anything yet and then just one day out of the blue it was really obvious that they were kicks rather than wind!
X

Second pregnancy, anterior here. Felt some internal movements about 18/19wks depending on where she was, and then properly about 21/22wks.
