Looks like pregnant people won't get the booster automatically

Given how much they've been pushing the vaccine for pregnant women and how dangerous covid is for women in their third trimester think this is daft.

My dh will get it cos his immune system is apparently more at risk cos of steroids but I'm actually more of a risk than he is.

You'll get because he's vulnerable.

CorrBlimeyGG · 21/09/2021 16:49

Do you believe you're more at risk than those who are immunosuppressed, or just your partner?

Bells3032 · 21/09/2021 16:49

no only if you live with someone going through chemo etc - someone living with someone with higher risk in general don't get it

@CorrBlimeyGG just my partner. deff don;t think i am more at risk than those going through chemo etc.

Would put pregnancy on parr with diabetes etc but they get it and pregnant women won't

They’ve put pregnant women into “moderate risk” as a precaution, not high risk, which is why they’re not on the list.

DoucheCanoe · 21/09/2021 17:04

My siblings (under 16) got because my Mum has an auto-immune condition so you might get

Diabetics don't get it - it's clinically extremely vulnerable not just vulnerable.

As a pregnant teacher who had my last jab 6 months ago and is regularly surrounded by unvaccinated teenagers in cramped classrooms I’d really like a booster!

Whatshouldicallme · 21/09/2021 19:59

The people being offered the booster are generally those that had it over 6 months ago -- eg CEV for another reason, health and care staff etc. People who are immunosuppressed are being offered a booster because research shows that they were less likely then others to have built an effective immune response. Most pregnant women will have been vaccinated fairly recently unless they are in one of the other very early groups that is being offered the booster anyway. If you've only just had the first two, you don't need a third yet.

Bells3032 · 21/09/2021 20:06

@Whatshouldicallme i had mine nearly six months ago cos i was volunteering in a vaccine centre. so because i helped out i am going to be "uncovered" for the last 3 months of my pregnancy. yay

Oh I see, sorry I didn't think about those groups. I hope it goes okay for you and that you stay well Flowers

Exmoorkatie86 · 21/09/2021 21:56

I also had mine 6 months ago.
They’ll be lots more pregnant woman this applies to.

minatrina · 21/09/2021 23:38

I was also disappointed (but not surprised) that pregnant women who had their last vaccination more than 6 months ago aren't included. It seemed like a no brainer to me, but don't get me started on the way women's health issues are treated Sad

sheusesmagazines · 22/09/2021 04:06

They should keep it simple and everyone who has been jabbed more than 6 months ago and eligible for a flu jab gets it. That would include pregnant women.

Yet again pregnant women are forgotten about.

The efficacy does decrease but you’re in no way “uncovered” at six months.
