TW: how long did miscarriage take

Hi all

Ive been having spotting red blood (and brown last week) for at least the last 12 hours now and I’m fearing the worst. Ive had some spotting last week too.

Due to see EPU on Friday for a scan (I should be 9/nearly 10 weeks by my dates) but Epu scan 2 weeks ago showed me roughly 6 weeks - they were not concerned as there was a heartbeat.

Just wondering for those that have had a miscarriage how long did it take to ramp up to the next level of bleeding after your spotting started?
I want to try and prepare myself as much as possible - I have a little one at home too so trying to make sure my partners around just in case anything should happen x

I should add that when I say spotting - it’s when I wipe and it’s a fairly big smear of fresh blood each time.

Hey, didn't want to read and run. Sorry you're going through this.
Firstly, I Would go to your local a and e to get a scan a bit quicker. I had bleeding like what you described at 6 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks, and I'm currently 26 weeks so it may not be bad news. My spotting was due to an irritated cervix and a haematoma in my womb.

With my miscarriage (prior to this pregnancy), it was about 24 hours before the really heavy bleeding and passing of clots started. My bleeding filled a pad in minutes and I bled badly for about 12 hours. Was doubled over in agony too and needed a hospital trip. Fingers crossed you get sorted soon.

@Theawkwardblonde thank you so much for your reply! I’m hopeful that it’s not a miscarriage and just a haematoma, did you bleed continuously throughout that time with the haemotoma?

@Luckyme30 my bleeding was continuous for a day or two but it was quite light. Enough that it was there when wiping but it didn't fill a pad really if that makes sense.

Thank you! Mines been continuous (only when wiping for 2 days now) although have had spotting on and off for 2 weeks so not so sure!

Thank you for your replies though :)

With a miscarriage the bleeding is usually bright red & begins to get thicker. Some even have clots..
