Big baby

Hi all!

I've just left my 31 week midwife appointment and I've been referred for another growth scan as 'the measurement has gone up closer to the scan weight' whatever that means?!

I had one at 28 weeks and baby was measuring big at 3lb6 which is odd as I was originally referred due to her measuring small but it was actually the opposite once we got in there.

I had my bloods done and diabetes test 2 weeks ago which came back in the normal range (5.5) but today she found a trace of glucose but told me not to worry.

Well I am worrying! It's all I seem to do, I'm terrified of birth so the thought of a big baby is petrifying x

Can you ask for a glucose tolerance test? That is typically how GD is diagnosed. If baby is measuring big because of your blood sugar, at 31 weeks you still have time to change your diet.

I had my due date brought forward by 2 weeks because DS was measuring big. Predicted he would weigh around 5/5.5kg at birth (11/12lb). He was born 2 weeks "late" (my original due date) via induction at 3.6kg (7lb9). He was very long though which I think was what threw off they're measurements 🤷🏼.

Try not to stress about baby being 'too big' a lot the the doctors measurements are gestimates at best.
