Extreme tiredness

Hi all,
Second pregnancy and over halfway through. I cannot cope with the extreme tiredness. I have a toddler and work part time and I am just struggling so much. I go to bed early but wake up early thanks to my human alarm clock. We have a cleaner so I'm not doing as much housework as before.

Does anyone have any advice!? I don't have any time off work until Christmas Sad I'm shattered

Try to get more iron x

Sleepyquest · 20/09/2021 13:36

Oh yes that'll be an issue as I'm veggie 😃 do you suggest a supplement?

So much sympathy. I had it throughout my second pregnancy and it was so hard.

I basically just slept and worked. DH did everything with DC1.

Minimum housework and DH needs to pull more than his weight. Why can’t he get up early with DC1?

If you want to try a step before iron tablets (yuck) my midwife suggested I take two sachets of Spatone in orange juice every day. It's not the full amount for a day but I can tell if I don't have it for a couple of days. I'm not deficient, she just suggest starting it prior to 28 weeks bloods to avoid being flagged as borderline and needing actual tablets. You can't taste it and it doesn't have to be in orange juice it just helps with absorption. No effect on my digestion either which was the main aim!

@Shhhhhhhshh he does get up with her but once I'm awake, I'm awake kind of thing. Struggle to get back to sleep!

I can't do nothing as I feel too guilty. It's so tough Sad

Try floradix. In both of my pregnancies and once in between I've ended up on prescription iron tablets though.

zeromango · 20/09/2021 14:25

Ugh same here it's bloody horrible. 25 weeks and just beyond exhausted constantly, have a midwife appointment next week thankfully so I'll mention it then but not sure what to do. Sleeping does nothing!

Sleepyquest · 20/09/2021 14:43

@zeromango I've started to panic about when baby is here too, is this just my life now? Being absolutely cream crackered?

Get your blood sugars tested.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 20/09/2021 15:50

Op I am actually in exactly the same situation even down to getting a cleaner in
I just had my bloods done at 28 weeks and I was showing low iron levels.

Got an appointment with my midwife tomorrow to pick up a prescription of them so I imagine you can get yours this way too. You should get them to check your bloods again.

But also I think pregnancy is just exhausting and add in a toddler it is just survival really..

It's hard. I brought my maternity leave forward because I'm so tired.

Sleepyquest · 20/09/2021 16:17

Thanks everyone.
The iron thing would make sense as it wouldn't be the first time!

@JasonMomoasgirlfriend I hadn't even thought about bringing mat leave forward but I might have to!

Yeh I was reluctant because I don't want to lose time with the baby and go back to work earlier next year but I think I will just take ordinary parental leave and that will give me the time back.

I feel so pathetic and I've had a fair amount of time off work with various illnesses that I think are due to me being so run down I just pick anything up DS brings back from nursery.
Think I have about 15 days of work left and it can't come round fast enough lol
