Brown Discharge 5 weeks after BM…normal?

I’ve googled and tried to look amongst all threads for a little bit of positivity and can hardly find anything so hoping you mums to be might be able to shed some light!!

I had a BM first thing this morning and there was brown stringy discharge mixed in with white discharge…is this normal or am I miscarrying? I miscarried with a suspected ectopic back in January so I’m already so on edge. I’ve got an early scan booked in for this afternoon but I’m sick with worry.

Any insight into what it could possibly be would be great!!

Thanks in advance x

The truth is only time will tell. This has happened twice for me. Once it was the start of a miscarriage and the second time everything was fine.

Littlebun1 · 20/09/2021 09:53

@AnnaSW1 thanks, I know this is the case sadly and I just have to ride it out and hope for the best! It’s good to know you had one positive outcome with it though!

@Littlebun1
Try not to worry, I had brown and sometimes a bit of red through both of my pregnancies, it’s very common x

Hensintheskirting · 20/09/2021 09:59

Hi OP, I had this too with both of my pregnancies and both were absolutely fine. It's just a waiting game I think, I bled on and off until around 14 weeks and had healthy pregnancies and babies. Hopefully it will be the same for you, I believe it's very common though, in early pregnancy.

Quinn26 · 20/09/2021 10:12

Hi @Littlebun1, I actually had this same this morning after a BM so it would be good to hear how you get on! I'm around the same as you 5-6 weeks.

Also had a MMC at the end of last year so I'm on edge too! I've not had much cramping though which I'm guessing is a good thing.

Fingers crossed for you x

Littlebun1 · 20/09/2021 10:24

Thanks @Workinghardeveryday and @Hensintheskirting both your comments are reassuring!! X

@Quinn26 I’ll keep you posted on what they say, this anxiety is awful!! Hoping for positive outcomes for the both of us! I have had some cramping and weird pulling sensations in my stomach but not sure if I’m just reading in to every little twinge Sad have you had anything since? X

Fingers crossed @Littlebun1! No i haven't had any other brown or any bleeding thankfully! I have had some pulling sensations too so hoping it just the little bean growing and getting comfy x

babyboybluex · 20/09/2021 10:41

Hi @Littlebun1 - hope all goes well with your scan. Keep us posted!

On Friday I had a BM with some straining which resulted in light pink discharge. Went to bed and no cramps happened. Completely fine over the weekend and all good today, I've even got increased nausea. I do think it's common when passing a BM!! x

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 20/09/2021 10:43

I had that all the way through and it was fine. Waiting game unfortunately x

RosieLemonade · 20/09/2021 14:02

Hope the scan was positive OP

zeromango · 20/09/2021 14:16

Hi OP I had a small bit of brownish discharge after a BM very early on ... was terrified as had previous MCs. This was after having brown blood and an early scan to rule out ectopic. Can only assume I was ... ahem.. squeezing too hard!? I also had horrid cramps but everything was absolutely fine and now being kicked at 25 weeks. Best of luck for your scan today ❤️

Littlebun1 · 20/09/2021 17:55

Thanks for all your responses ❤️ Sadly it’s not good news, they couldn’t see a gestational sac and at this stage they would hope to. They have taken bloods for my HCG levels to see if I may have just calculated my dates wrong but with the spotting this morning I’m not hopeful. Just praying it’s not an ectopic Sad now it’s just another waiting game! Xx

Thanks for letting us know how you got on @littlebun1 sorry its not the news you wanted :( fingers crossed you may be slightly behind and that's why they can't see anything yet.

Have you had any spotting throughout the day or cramps? X

Littlebun1 · 21/09/2021 07:18

Hi @Quinn26,

No cramping but more brown discharge this morning with another BM.

Just feel so depressed knowing the likelihood is it’s another miscarriage.

Really hope yours is a healthy pregnancy! Have you had any other symptoms?

Xx

Hi @Littlebun1 sorry to hear that :( although I have been reading some other forums and it does seem common among in early pregnancy. I think its positive you haven't had any cramping so here's hoping your bloods come back on track.

I haven't had any today so I think it might have been a one off, trying to keep positive and ease my mind.

Hope your doing ok x

Quinn26 · 23/09/2021 11:05

How are you getting on @Littlebun1? Did you get your bloods back? x
