Anyone else in first trimester feeling so unwell?

7 weeks today, first child via IVF so very much wanted and been a long time waiting. Obviously so pleased to be pregnant but it’s really taking its toll. Started being physically sick about a week ago and since then have lost my voice from being so unwell. Nausea is pretty much constant throughout the day (is fine from about 6/7pm). Currently had no voice for 4 days which I assume is down to sickness. Today I woke up feeling like I’ve been hit by a bus. Had sinus headaches all weekend, can feel the pain in my sinuses now. I’ve got a runny nose and a horrid cough (done a LF and that was negative this morning). Work is pretty stressful at the moment and definitely not helping to relax and get rest but I am sleeping probably about 9-12 hours a day and OH has been fab at picking up housework etc.
Anyone got any tips or even just to say it gets better, would hugely appreciate!!

Just wanted to say that I have felt truly awful in the first trimester of both my pregnancies. Lost a lot of weight and could barely move sometimes. BUT you do get through it, even if only just. Look on the pregnancy sickness support website - they have lots of useful stuff on there and some support if you need it. Hope it doesn't turn into HG but might be worth reading up on it in case. Good luck - it WILL pass even if it doesn't feel like it now xx

Absolutely. I’ve suffered since I took the pregnancy test and I was 7 weeks.
I’m now nearly 26 weeks and still no better unfortunately. I feel tight all over, I inject with clexane so I’m sore, I’ve been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, I had a hospital stay last month for fluids & anti sickness, I can’t even make a cup of tea without being sick from standing up & I think I’m suffering high BP which is being monitored.
Just a word of warning / from my hospital stay I caught covid and wish I knew I needed a PCR test as I kept taking LFT tests and I didn’t get a positive until day 5. Sending hugs xx

Hi @LS2020 I remember you from the RHR thread. Sorry you're feeling so crap. It can be such a shock to feel so unwell.

I felt awful throughout first trimester with my first pregnancy and lost a noticeable amount of weight.

I'm over 8 weeks this time and minimal symptoms so far and of course I'm worrying about the pregnancy 🤦🏼‍♀️ my sinuses are playing up again though. If you can face it neilmed sinus rinse works a treat. It's like a neti pot bottle that you add cooled boiled water to with a sachet of bicarbonate/ salt. Hard to get used to at first but I actually enjoy doing it now.

Anyway. Take it easy on yourself. Maybe take some time off work if you can. Rest definitely helps a lot. Just give in to it as much as you can and try to sleep your way through the next few weeks as much as you can

I’m only 4 weeks with this pregnancy, but when I was pregnant with DD I ended up being signed off work from about 5 weeks to around 13 weeks as I was far too ill. But it absolutely did get better!
If you’re not on anti sickness tablets then I recommend them.

Thanks all! I’ve taken three days off work, started my anti-sickness meds and not been sick yet 🤞🏻 Very nauseous but much more manageable. I’ve stopped taking my pregnacare and swapped back to my old multivitamin which was safe for pregnant women, just doesn’t have Vit d in so got a new supplement for that. Hopefully it all works!

Definitely feeling my cold today and taken my PCR so have to just see what that says tomorrow too.

Really hoping it goes after 12 weeks but will just have to see, sorry some of you are suffering so long after but hopefully it will be all worth it when our little ones are here ❤️

@QueenLagertha how lovely to hear from you again - hope all goes well with this pregnancy too. I’ve heard a lot that women have different experiences with each one so more than sure everything is fine ☺️ Ooh I’ll take a look at that, my sinuses are causing me so much pain, I’ve got OH massaging my face twice a day to try and ease 😫
