I wonder if any of you have any tips or remedies to help me, because I am suffering😂

I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant and over the last week I've been feeling very nauseous. It did come in waves and subside. But oh my, it's all day now. I haven't actually thrown up and I haven't been close to, but I can't shake the feeling. Even eating, I'm hungry but the thought of eating makes me feel sick. Also feel full so easily.

I was in work today and I work in a public facing role, so I was sat on the till for 6 hours and the feeling is just becoming unbearable🥵

Ginger biscuits (or ginger tea if you can manage it). Sometimes sucking on a mint helps, or even salty foods like crisps. Try snacking little and often and don't worry too much about eating "healthily" at this point (as long as you are keeping down your folic acid/prenatal vitamin) - it's more important you just eat when you can and that you keep your fluids up.

I felt the same btw - nauseous and hungry but didn't really want full meals ,although I was lucky and didn't actually throw up. For me it started at about 5/6 weeks and eased about 10/11 weeks as the placenta started to kick in (although I still get the odd nauseous feeling especially if I'm hot or tired, I'm 15 weeks now).

I found lucozade original really helps (it has caffeine in so I sipped it sparingly throughout the day)

Bananas too.

I was suffering terribly until about 4 days ago. Might be a coincidence but I did a shout out on her for advice and added these two in and I seemed to turn a corner

Hope you feel better soon, I'm 10 +3 now and like I said, it feels like it's starting to subside ♥️♥️

Congratulations. My partner used the sick bands so much as this point, sipping on flat 7up and ginger biscuits or dry crackers

cloudmamma · 19/09/2021 22:53

I found watery fruit like melon, watermelon, cold straight from the fridge, really helped me a lot.

Also for when at work or driving I'd keep fruity chewing gum handy, that helped keep it at bay a little

Hope it gets better soon for you x

Oh and also, often when I had been feeling nauseous for a while (like half a day or more) if I actually physically vomited I felt SO much better for a few hours. I discovered that by accident the first few times and then did it intentionally a few times (didn't take much, just brushing my tongue a little too far back caused me to retch). Sorry I know it's really gross but it actually really helped.

Ice lollies, even ice cubes, there's something about the cold that distracts from the nausea. Plain crackers and crisps when you can manage. But I swear by ice lollies .

wishing3 · 19/09/2021 23:03

I had retchy nausea and found lemon water helped a bit.

HummingBeeBox · 19/09/2021 23:05

Belvita breakfast biscuits helped me no end. I can't eat them now, I ate so many while pregnant!

AGreenerShadeofKale · 19/09/2021 23:05

Canada Dry ginger ale. I think it was the ginger combined with fizz.
I tried a supermarket own brand that didn't seem to do the trick hence the brand name.

Also I found I felt better eating curries, which I put down to the fresh ginger.

ContadoraExplorer · 19/09/2021 23:08

Eat little and often. With me it was having an empty stomach on the first place that made me feel sick and then the sickness making me not want to eat any more. I carry nuts or oatcakes and a big flask of water with me, even now in the second trimester, to keep nausea at bay.

MissH995 · 20/09/2021 08:05

Thank you all! I shall be trying some of these out. I feel like the sick feeling only creeps up afternoon and by evening I'm on the sofa just crashed out trying to fight the feeling. I'm in work tonight until late so I definitely need all the help I can get🥵

Salt and vinegar crisps, really sour sweets and slush puppies / ice lollies :)

bumpyknuckles · 20/09/2021 19:04

I pretty much lived on fizzy water, cereal, toast, potatoes and Nairn's ginger oatcakes.

Gingery things, salty things and very plain things are what will get you through.

Eat something before you get out of bed in the morning. And graze through the day (although eating seems to be the worst thing in the world, you will feel worse if you don't). Get plenty of sleep. I always felt worse when I was tired (or hot).

If it's getting really hard to work, take some time off sick. Any time you take off because of pregnancy can't go on your sickness record.

bumpyknuckles · 20/09/2021 19:08

By the way, I'm 11+5 and have felt much better for about a week now. I just feel a bit sick in the middle of the afternoon or when I'm hungry.

wildthingsinthenight · 20/09/2021 19:10

Regular nibbling on something bland and dry and tons of fizzy water

wildthingsinthenight · 20/09/2021 19:11

Have a Tupperware by your bed with snacks in. I had mini rice cakes, ginger biscuits, bread sticks things like that.
Eat before you get out of bed in the morning. Really helped me

MissH995 · 20/09/2021 19:36

My sickness band came today before I left for work and I really don't know if it's that, that's helped or the sparkling lemon water I've been drinking. But this evening I've felt normal. Managed pasta on my break. I felt sick this morning until about 3 this afternoon. So I might of cracked it here or I might just be lucky and had a night off😂

Take a slice of raw peeled root ginger and tuck it inside your cheek and leave it there.
