Hello I am 29 weeks and the past week or so my appetite has completely gone to the point where I feel sick after 2 scrambled eggs or a apple and a couple strawberries, I am 5'8 and pre pregnancy weight 90 kg so I am used to eating a lot like 3 big meals a day and 2 snacks and also I think my maintenance calories are about 2200 and then I should also be eating extra 200 due to third trimester but I have barley been eating 1500-1600 a day on small snacks as I can't eat . I am so worried this is going to be hurting baby , is he going to feel hungry or have less energy and in the long run will it damage it him if this doesn't get better ? Does anyone know would be a great help thanks

I lost my appetite around week 13 and had the same worries. (My appetite still isn’t back). I asked every midwife and every sonographer I saw as well as my GP about it. The baby will take what it needs from you, we don’t need to worry about that. The one to suffer will be you. At the time I felt better on hearing that the baby will be fine, but now I’m in the start of my third trimester and just exhausted. I am forcing myself to eat high calorie foods so at least I’m getting closer to my daily goal. My thoughts when I force myself to eat are if I’m so tired now, how on earth am I going to make it through labour!?

My first pregnancy I had HG and couldn't keep a lot down or eat much at all. No one seemed to care a jot! The only thing they really cared about was if I could keep fluids down. I think as long as you are a healthy weight, bump is growing and you can feel that the baby is active, they aren't too fussed. Just try to eat what you can, when you can and have plenty of fluids. Hope you feel better soon!

As long as baby is growing, don’t worry. I actually lost weight while I was pregnant (only actually put on weight of baby etc) as my appetite plummeted and I’d barely manage a few mouthfuls of meals by third trimester. Baby was a healthy 7lb9oz and thriving.

I was like this for weeks from around 22 weeks to 34 weeks and have just got my appetite back! All fine with baby x

I lost 10kg during my last pregnancy due to severe Hyperemesis and my baby was born 8lb overdue and is a perfectly healthy 3 year old now

It will be you that suffers, not the baby
They will get everything they need - think of them as a tiny loveable parasite Grin
Hope your appetite improves
