I was probably a similar weight when pregnant with my twins. I also had my placenta at the front. Movements were definitely noticeable though although I can’t remember from what point. Always go to the hospital if you’re worried about lack of movements though, they’re more than happy to check everything.

I haven’t got any personal experience of being plus size when pregnant but just going to add that the location of your placenta might hinder things too. Did they say at your 20 week scan where it was?

Mine is posterior (at the back) so I’ve felt baby since week 22 or so. I’m at week 28 now and some of the kicks are really hard.

They told me that I’d “feel everything” and that if the placenta had been at the front, that would have cushioned a lot of the movements.

I assume all has been well on scans and with the midwife?

I'm plus sized (130 at booking, 121 now - joys of sickness) and have an anterior placenta.

I didnt feel any movements at all until week 24 and only then were occasional and light. I'm 27 +3 now and find I'm starting to experience proper kicks and see my stomach moving but it's only been for the past week or so and movements are a bit more regular with patterns emerging :)

Midwives did reassure me that if I'm ever not sure about movements it'd perfectly fine to call. I find unless I'm sat down or laid down relaxing they are really hard to notice sometimes.

As others have also said, if you are ever at all in doubt about the movements or think its not enough/or too much please get it checked out.

As a fellow plus size mum I believe it's not so much your size, but the location of the placenta that can impact how much you feel baby move/kick. As it's all happening inside you, the outer layers don't really impact you feeling it internally. It might take a bit longer to see the movements through your belly on the outside, but inside things for you should feel much the same as a slimmer person.

Often, you'll realise in hindsight that some funny feelings in your belly were actually the baby moving around and not gas etc. And trust me when I say, in a few weeks time you will feel all of it in your ribs, your internal organs, your area, everywhere - babies love a kick fest regardless of mums size. Oh and also, it might be that your baby is more active during the night? I know mine used to go mad at around midnight, when I was trying to get comfy in bed. Your daily movements and activities can rock them off to sleep (it'll never be as easy again haha!)

But if in doubt - get checked out!
