Low blood sugar?

Hi,

I'm just looking for advice please.

I'm 26 + 1 and i've had periods before of feeling 'shaky' when i haven't eaten for a while or if my lunch is later in the day than usual.

Yesterday at work, i suddenly went shaky and dizzy and felt like i was going to pass out . I was sweating and feeling sick too. I sat down and someone suggested to try a fizzy drink as it might have been low blood sugar and after that about 10/15 mins later i started to feel better.

Does this sound like low blood sugar and does that mean it's likely i could have GD? Made the mistake of googling it all last night🙄.

TIA😊

Does sound like low blood sugar and you need to make sure you try to eat regularly :)

Unlikely GD though - that would be high blood sugars not low blood sugars

(I have GD and had it in previous pregnancy too)

@Amz6219 thank you for your responseSmile

When i was looking yesterday apparently low blood sugar reactions like this is common in people with diabetes which is why i thought it might possibly be GD

You can get a blood sugar test kit fairly cheap on Amazon, it's around £20. If you don't mind pricking your finger.

I personally do it often, even without having any issues atm. I'm just starting 35 and had similar issues as you during my last pregnancy, so I just keep checking to make sure I'm eating enough.

Usually having a quick snack (protein bar, flapjack, whatever) helps a lot - get some supplies! :)

Low blood sugars in diabetes is caused by the treatment for it. If you had untreated diabetes you would have high blood sugars.

Thank you all! That puts my mind at ease at least. I will make sure i always have a snack with me when out.

I have a GTT booked for Monday anyway as i'm high risk due to my BMI so i'm sure i'll be at ease after thatSmile
