Private scan revealed cyst?

Hi,
I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with my second child and had a private scan today. It was just to get reassurance that everything was okay as I've had a loss in the past.
The person doing the scan wasn't the best tbh and whilst everything is okay with the baby I left feeling confused and concerned. She showed what I can only describe as another circle outside of my uterus and she said she wasn't medically trained so had no idea what it was but could refer me to the EPU at hospital. I now have an appointment with them next week and they have advised they don't believe it to be anything serious. I think it might be a cyst but as this sonographer didn't give any indication at all I just wondered if you guys could give me some opinions? Thanks muchly xxx

Could it be the corpus luteum, similar showed on my early scans until placenta took over. Maybe a gynae/obstetrician could review the scan for you

Thanks, I'm having a repeat scan on Tuesday and a gynae is going to assess it then. Guess I just wish it was sooner although I know if they were really concerned I would have been seen today so trying to stay positive. Thanks for responding xx

Bloody hell, I don't think I realised that private scans could be so unhelpful if something unexpected turned up. Par for the course I guess.

@Claire78564 hi lovely, no idea what that is.. I had two previous losses and was anxious when I saw a cyst in the corner of my uterus. But thankfully with plenty of water, the cyst went away. So I can reassure you, any cyst will usually form & then go away if you're drinking well

Claire78564 · 17/09/2021 00:09

I've had private scans before and can honestly say the one I went to today was bloody shocking. She didn't seem to have a clue about which end of the scanner she should be holding so definitely won't be going again.
I'm pretty confident it's a cyst on my ovary which is read isn't a big deal. Thanks xx

I had a cyst on my ovary at a private scan, 12 weeks ( had my first nhs scan at 9 weeks and just wanted to make sure everything was okay, as waiting till 20 weeks was a very long time), I've also had losses, they said its very common and ot should go by your next scan, when I had my 20 week nhs one it had gone completely l, keep is updated OP x

Thanks! That sounds reassuring. Did your scan look similar to mine? Xx

I didn't get to see wheb she checked and mentioned the customer, it was nearer the end and she turned the screen back around, but she did say to ame to not worry as its very liking it will go on its own x

Fairywings86 · 17/09/2021 07:07

Customer? Oh dear, the cyst

Claire78564 · 17/09/2021 16:58

I see thanks for your response. I guess I'm just worried incase it could jeopardise the baby.
I know I am being silly but I worried thst what if it was twins and one was ectopic. I guess this is the annoying thing about having to wait for answers. I keep telling myself if that was the case I would have been seen ASAP....

Sounds like it could be a corpus luteum, which is supposed to be there so don’t panic! Being pregnant has made me realise that not all sonographers are trained in the same things and many of them are unable to properly recognise anything they’ve not been trained in.

Claire78564 · 17/09/2021 17:34

@SweetBabyCheeses99 thanks, I'm trying to be logical and thing that too. From the picture I posted does it sort of fit in line with your opinion? I just find it shocking these people aren't fully clued up on what they are looking at xx

I had a cyst on an early (NHS) scan with DC2, completely gone by 12 weeks. Try not to panic
