Maternity Pay - Help!

I’ve had an interview today for what would be my absolute dream job!! But I am 5-6 weeks pregnant and I’m worried if I change jobs now, would I be entitled to maternity pay?
I have been in my current job since March, and applied for this new one before finding out I was pregnant. If I was to get it I’d be looking at starting the end of October - will I have been in my job/working long enough to be entitled to maternity pay?! Can anyone help - I’m getting conflicting info on Google and don’t want to continue to the next part of the process if I won’t get maternity 😟

You could claim maternity allowance. You would get a set amount each week (£152ish). You just wouldn't get the 90% of wages for 6 weeks at the start like you would with statutory maternity pay

Oh! That’s a lot better than thinking I won’t get anything at all… 😂 I read online that changing jobs can count as a break in employment so I wouldn’t be entitled?

That may be for SMP.

The criteria for MA is;

In the 66 weeks before your baby’s due, you must also have been:

  • employed or self-employed for at least 26 weeks
  • earning (or classed as earning) £30 a week or more in at least 13 weeks - the weeks do not have to be together

You may still qualify if you’ve recently stopped working. It does not matter if you had different jobs or periods of unemployment

hi, can anyone help me? I recently applied for maternity allowance however I had only worked 22 weeks prior to giving birth and 24 weeks prior to due date as baby was born early.. No other work within the 66 weeks due to my baby born only 22 as I was student. Will I be accepted for maternity allowance due to the small difference between that and 26 weeks or is there no chance.
