Pregnant cleaners

Hi all, I am 7 weeks 3 days atm, but looking to the future I was wondering if there were any other cleaners on here who can tell me whether they were actually able to do their jobs towards the latter part of the pregnancy?
I never realised how much bending down/over I was doing at work until I started making a mental note of it. Having never been pregnant before I wonder how it will be later on? Obviously I'm not going to squash my bump just to carry on picking rubbish up off the floor, so would it ge better to go on maternity leave at the earliest opportunity rather than later- which would make more financial sense.
Thank you.

I'm not a cleaner but my heart goes out to you.
I'm in the 3rd trimester and struggling with my own cleaning - let alone doing someone else's.
It's not so much physically impossible but it is exhausting., especially going up and down stairs. I'm not sure how feasible it would be to be carrying a hoover up and down stairs on a regular basis.
I do hope you manage to find a solution.

Not a cleaner, but maybe some adaptations could be made eg using litter picker or long handled dustpan and brush. Help from someone else with lifting. You could start doing that soon. Are you employed within a business or self employed? Your employer should make adaptations to help you do the job. You might want to take more of your maternity beforehand than an office worker…it used to be normal to be off from about 30 weeks, my family were surprised I carried on.

My DS2 is now 3 months old, but I'm a cleaner and also work in the laundry in a care home, work 8-2 or 8-4 when I was pregnant I was okay bending etc till about 26 weekish (always super careful) then it did start to get difficult, from then on, I was always careful regardless throughout all my pregnancy when at work but the later end was tough! I was ment to leave work at 37 weeks, but ended up on maternity leave at 35 weeks, I had 3 weeks hols left so had to put them in, I just couldn't do it, I couldn't bend, it's faced paced and on your feet practically all shift, im not sure how I even got to 35 weeks tbh, plus it was nice to have time to rest before baby arrived, with swollen feet, knackered back and hugggge bump! Just try take it as easy as you can, congratulations Flowers
