Maternity allowance

Hi does anyone know anything about maternity allowance through the government?
I’m currently employed but I’ve been receiving sick pay as I’ve not long lost my mum and I’m really struggling at the minute my employer said I won’t be entitled to maternity pay through them and to apply through Gov so I’ve used the calculator and because I have only been receiving £96.35 per week I’m not eligible it says you need to be earning £120.00 per week to qualify 🤦🏻‍♀️ My baby is due January I have a baby who’s 13 months and it looks like I’ll be staying on the sick now until it ends
My employer said to still send the forms of anyway but I don’t think there’s any point if the calculator is saying I’m not eligible thank you x

My understanding is that it’s worth doing the forms, as you’ll get 90% of what you’ve earned on average, as long as you’ve got 13 weeks in the qualifying period where you’ve earned over £30.

It won’t start paying out until 11 weeks before the baby is due, at the earliest, but it’s something
