Chicco next to me chemical/fishy smell

I bought a chicco next to me dream a while back and when we got it setup the fabric part had a really unpleasant chemical, almost fishy smell to it. We've had it out airing for weeks now with zero improvement. I've tried spraying it which helped for about 24 hours. And I've washed it twice. Washing has ever so slightly improved the smell but it's still there and this is something I'm going to put my baby in and have right next to my face in my bedroom so it's still too stinky.
Place I bought it from haven't been much help. Has anyone had this issue before? Would appreciate any tips on getting rid of it. It's definitely the cover/main fabric not the mattress.

Getting a bit concerned now as baby could arrive any day and planning to use from birth!

Mine smelt quite strongly of plastic for a couple of weeks, but not fishy! Maybe contact chicco direct?

I would contact them as I’ve had no smells coming from mine!

Thanks both! I've just sent chicco a message to see if there's anything they can do. It's good to hear that you didn't have the same issue as it reassures me that something is weird with mine! Ive put it through yet another wash today and it's finally starting to smell better too.

When you say you've aired it, do you mean outside in the sun? If not definitely try that - UV is amazing for getting rid of nasty smells!

Did you buy it second hand?

Hi, I have the exact same issue, the crib arrived yesterday and the smell of fish is prominent, I was stood in the bedroom and my husband said there’s a funny smell in here I think you need a shower, I was like it’s not me, it’s the crib and he agreed, lol.

It only arrived yesterday but I don’t want to start washing it as my baby will have nowhere to sleep.

Hi, in the end I didn’t wash mine, I just left it and it has gone, but I still smell it a bit when I change the sheets.

Its the glue.
Just wash it over with warm water and clothes powder and leave it for a couple days to air it'll go away
