Leaving hospital clothes post c section

I am totally over thinking this but please help me out.

This will be my 2nd section but 1st was emergency and barely remember a thing apart from how desperate I was to leave hospital. I gave birth in a heatwave last time but am due beginning of November so assuming it will be cold.

What is the easiest thing I can wear home? Don’t even remember how I got dressed to leave last time. Do the midwives normally help? My husband had to wait outside the hospital so he didn’t help me. And can’t imagine how I pulled a dress over my head post surgery.

Clearly it’s not a massive deal but no I have time to plan, I’m really confused.

Thank you!

I had my 3rd section two weeks ago and wore a maternity dress and leggings. My dh helped me get dressed. I was wearing hospital compression stockings so had to wear trainers which again he helped me with.As yours will be winter time I would have your partner bring a coat.

Leggings , t shirt and baggy jumper if cold

Big knickers, maternity leggings (over bump style) and a dress. Sorted. Dressed myself, wasn’t too difficult, just do everything slowly. Also slip on shoes in case you’re a bit puffy from the fluid drip etc is helpful, no awkward bending Smile

I was in the shower and getting changed 3hrs post section (was hot and sweaty post surgery and on the fiery inferno of a ward). Never needed any help with getting dressed or similar. I think I just wore loose maternity joggers and a t-shirt and cardigan to drive home.

Wear joggers so you've nothing tight against your wound A waistband will be well above it. Then wear a zip hoodie or something easy to get on over a tshirt. As for footwear, just wear boots in and then home again - easy to slip your feet in. Nobody will bat an eyelid if you're wearing boots with joggers when leaving the hospital. It's only to get to the car. I never had any issue getting dressed after a c-section (have had 4). Be sure to take every pain medication you're offered in hospital even if you're not in pain at the time. Best of luck.

I wore:

With high waisted cotton underwear from Asda and flip flops.

The trousers are super comfy and very high waist and loose. Still wear them now around the house as they don’t rub on my incision.

If you take leggings be careful of wear the seam is under the bump. I have some from H&M and there’s stitching that runs along the underside of the bump when pregnant but post pregnancy is was directly on top of my scar which rubbed and irritated it!

I would wear maternity high waisted loose black trousers, zip up hoody (doesn’t have to go over your head) and slip on shoes (so you don’t have to bend down)
When I was leaving the hospital I didn’t care what I looked like I just wanted to be minimal effort and be comfy.
