HI, I'm 13 weeks and my stomach and boobs are sooo itchy - especially at night. I'm using E45.
So, is it just stretching skin?
anyone itch all the way through pregnancy?

I thought that this early on it isn't serious - anyone?

Thanks

Hi Deb,

I'm really itchy too and feel generally uncomfortable in my own body. Skin is stretching and hormones can make your skin feel different.

So it's hormones doing it? I've tried loads of creams of a night time to try to stop it, but it hasn't helped. Hormones would explain it. Seems like I have everything this pregnancy!

Get a liver function test - I had itching in the later stages of my 1st pregnancy and my liver was not functioning properly due to the pregnancy. On the off chance you do have this, it is treatable so don't worry, but you should tell your midwife.

Deb my boobs ITCHED so bad during my brief pregnancy that I thought I would scratch them off. My stomach itched only a little by comparision. It's almost 4 full weeks since my MC and the itching has finally disappeared. The only relief I found was using loads of AVEENO Lotion & Body Wash both for really dry skin.

I had very bad itching in the early stages of pg, especially at night, but it went away by ... I think about 13-16 weeks. I think at this stage it's nothing sinister. Ironically I then had high bile acids later on, which is meant to make you itch, but didn't at all!

Sorry no real advice - you could try a very gentle detergent, especially for your bedding.

Hi deb I had really itchy legs from around 6 weeks. Finally gave in and went to the doctor at 19 weeks and she said it was just pregnancy hormones and would go after baby was born (not a very cheerful thought when you've still got 20 + weeks to go). She prescribed me E45 which I've been using twice a day and it's really helped. A few weeks ago I realised that my legs weren't really itchy at all anymore although if I miss an application of E45 they itch again. I'm now 30 weeks and in the last few days my stomach has been really itchy but I think that's just due to a growth spurt by baby!

Thanks everyone, I'll keep on with the E45 then and see if it calms down any.
