Flu vaccine availability

Has anyone managed to book their flu vaccine this year?

My GP says there’s delays in obtaining the vaccine so they’re not taking bookings, and the local pharmacies don’t seem to have any appointments available (probably for the same reason).

Is there another way to get the vaccine, or am I missing a trick?

There are delays due to logistical issues. It’s transport issues due to driver shortages I believe. We are expecting supplies towards the end of September/ beginning of October so will be starting flu clinics -hopefully!-in October.

I’ve booked mine and dps for Friday in boots. I haven’t heard any different yet…

OasisOfFerns · 13/09/2021 19:39

Do you have a local travel centre? That's where I get mine. Had mine today, so far just a sore arm.

OasisOfFerns · 13/09/2021 19:41

*travel pharmacy I meant Hmm

Boots have Pre bookable slots would that help?

ChikiTIKI · 13/09/2021 19:49

My gp has already done appts for over 50s and vulnerable people. It was a massive clinic on Saturday just gone. My employer (nhs hospital) starts next week.

Thanks for the reminder. I have just booked with Boots, they had plenty of appointments via their online booking service.

I've booked mine for Lloyds pharmacy in two weeks. They're the only place I've spotted so far.

Sonofabiscuit · 13/09/2021 20:20

Had mine today ,had booked in for Oct.
Had to see the nurse about something else ,she asked if I'd booked yet and offered todo there and then,so I agreed .
Partner's GP aren't taking appointments yet .

Itsagrandoldteam · 13/09/2021 20:25

Our GP surgery are doing them week beginning the 12th October.

BikeRunSki · 13/09/2021 20:25

I got a text from the place I had my Covid jabs on Thursday, and booked in ASAP. DH had his on Friday, I had mine on Sunday. We’re both under 65. They have got the vaccine (different) for over 65.

The pharmacy at the top of our street should start doing them next month, but their website kept crashing when I tried to book.

VegMam · 13/09/2021 20:41

Thanks for responses. I’ve managed to find an appointment at boots next week in a city 20 odd miles away.

I think there must be a local issue where I live as both boots and Lloyds have no appointments locally.

Just booked mine. Sainsbury/Lloyds pharmacy £15.

bubblepond · 13/09/2021 21:33

I got a call on Friday to get mine booked in for this Friday and got a text today to say appointment cancelled

GoodnightGrandma · 13/09/2021 21:34

Outs are booked for Boots at the weekend. We’ve not been told not to go yet.

Ednadidit · 14/09/2021 04:54

Places like Boots will take bookings even if they don’t have it in - mine was cancelled on the day last year because the delivery still hadn’t arrived. My GP surgery texted on Saturday to say that the clinic would start on Sunday so I booked in and had it.

sparklyblue81 · 14/09/2021 22:50

My GP surgery texted yesterday about flu. Booked for 25th Sept 😊

Bells3032 · 15/09/2021 09:05
