Hi ladies, hoping for some rational advice and thought this is the best place for it! I feel like the closer I get to my due date the more I'm worrying about things going terribly wrong and harming my baby... Rational thinking isn't my strong point right now!

It's my first pregnancy so I don't know what's normal or not, but obviously I know back pain is a common symptom - and I've had severe back pain in my mid back along my bra-line since about 20 weeks. It's become so bad that it wakes me at night - is worse in the evening especially if I sit at a desk all day. It's usually disappeared by the morning though. I kind of wrote it off as normal pregnancy back pain until 32 weeks when I told my midwife it had been getting to the chronic point. I can't sleep on my sides either as it's too painful which made me thing it is my ribs... Anyway, at 32 weeks midwife said she wanted me to do a test for kidney infection - did it that day, came back from the lab as 'signs of infection'.. it's been difficult to actually talk to my doctor properly - just one phone conversation and then everything else has been relayed through the receptionist. So... Went on antibiotics, worried that I've actually had a kidney infection for the last 3 months and the damage potentially done to the baby and my kidneys... Back pain got marginally better after day four of antibiotics but the course only lasted for 7 days... Two days after the course ended my pain was worse than ever...
So I did another test at the doctor's and they have kept me waiting a week to get the results... Only to tell me that they have two tests (I only did one) and one was positive for an infection and one was negative... Massively unhelpful, so now I'm having to wait over the weekend to go back and do another test.

This last week where I've been waiting for the results it felt like the pain eased, but this weekend it's back and it's chronic - keeping me up at night.

I feel like the doctors don't care - just keeping me hanging for weeks with a potential kidney infection at 35 weeks pregnant...

I guess I want to know has anyone else had this chronic mid back pain which is fine in the morning and worse at night, where sleeping on their side is painful?? Or has anyone else had an ongoing kidney infection in pregnancy which they just can't shift - and has it done any lasting damage to the baby or you?

I can handle pain but this every night more or less for 15 weeks is starting to grind me down now... !
