Well I had a sweep Thursday and was 2cm but other than losing bits of plug nothing has happened. I’m booked for induction Monday. Hospital gave me a leaflet which says they do it in three ways. Pessary , waters breaking, drip. Wondering people’s experience and did anyone skip the pessary due to being dilated ? Keen to be in and out as soon as possible due to Covid restrictions meaning ds isn’t allowed to visit at all

If you're already 2cm there's a fair chance things might move on a bit before Monday - how far along are you? Are you spending every minute on the bastard birth ball? I was induced but my cervix was clamped shut and remained so after 2 days on the pessary and, my second induction, 1cm after 24 hours on the balloon. Different story for you though, hopefully you won't need the pessary, if you do I can't imagine it'll take too long for things to get going.

I was booked for an induction on my second and went myself the night before. I had an induction on my first though. They told me induction or going yourself is much much faster generally the second time around. There are always people who don’t find that to be the case of course, but because it’s your second fingers crossed you will have a fast induction! I didn’t get to skip the pessary on my first as my cervix was not ripe.

If you can have sex that’s what got labour really started second time

Blessedbutstressed96 · 11/09/2021 21:04

@BastardMonkfish I’m 38 weeks exactly I’m getting started due to small baby weight. I was the same with my first pregnancy but sweep at 37 weeks got him out. Trying everything even dtd with partner ! Though feeling anything but sexy lol
Hoping it’ll go quickly just want to get us all home together.

@Yummymummy2020 I really am hoping for a fast induction just want home to my ds! Tried sex to no success but tempted to give it one last go tonight 🤞🏼

If you're ready 2cm I reckon they will try to break your waters.

Blessedbutstressed96 · 11/09/2021 21:24

@RandomMess I really hope so, want to avoid possible hours of pessary

With my 2nd I still only had a bishops score of 1 when they put in the pessary I delivered within 10 hours!

Longest but was getting into established labour of 2-3cm Smile

I've heard that putting a breast pump onto your boobs and using it can start labour off!

I was induced with my second pregnancy, I had a sweep on the Friday and was booked in for induction on the Monday, however they rescheduled it to the weds as they was super busy and I was having a twin pregnancy so would have needed to be closely monitored. By the time I arrived I was 4cm dilated so they went straight for the drip and then broke my waters, I had an epidural also. The whole process took around 8 hours from going in to giving birth. I actually found the whole experience much more relaxing then with my first labor, which lasted almost 48 hours. There was some issues with twin 1 being tachycardic during labour, but this was on going issue before labour so it wasn't due to the induction or epidural. Good luck, I hope all goes well 🤞

I've had 2 inductions, first one was at 38 weeks for small measuring baby and 2nd was at 40 weeks exactly for baby's growth slowing down. Both my inductions were pretty much identical. I was already dilated with both and so just had my waters popped. Had to wait though for room on delivery suite to be available which meant a night's stay both times. My birth's were pretty quick, the first being just over 6 hours and the second being 5.5 hours. I had an epidural with both but the thing is with both my births I was pushing straight after they had put the epidural in. I think the way I was sitting pushed the babies down. With my second baby I was 5 cm dilated and do opted for epidural, after that was put in I was 10cm!! Overall a very positive experience with both my inductions. The worst part to be honest was the waiting around beforehand. Take a phone, charger and a good book!

I tried this before my induction and I did get some strong contractions but annoyingly my baby just wasn't ready yet!

Thing is no one can tell you what will happen, I was induced with both of mine, first child was induced at 12 when 1cm dilated and baby came shooting out 3pm

Second baby I had pessary like 20 hours before she decided to turn up. They said if she didn't turn up within 4 hours they would try another pessary which I wasn't a fan of but thankfully she did show up in time

Blessedbutstressed96 · 12/09/2021 14:18

@RandomMess hoping I manage to get him out in good timing thags good pessary didn’t take long!

@Emerald4512 this point I’ll try anything lol!

@Everly18 that makes me feel good, hoping I have a similar experience during the induction tomorrow! Thanks so much

@Blughbablugh that sounds like my ideal scenario ! Hoping mine goes as smoothly !

Feeling nervous but also so excited just to have him in my arms xx
