5 + 3 weeks and bleeding and cramping

Devastated. I started bleeding today, not overly heavy but bright red, bad cramps. In a panic I called 111, who then gave me an emergency referral to the doctor. Doc phoned me who said that if it carried on, I had to accept that the pregnancy hasn't progressed. I'm just at a loss for words. I had a child 10 years ago, and no complications like this. Ive accepted the fate that I'm miscarrying, I'm just really upset. Guess im just on here for a hand hold, my partner is a qualified sonographer and has said from his POV (he's currently on his way home) - it needs to be heavier to know for sure. This waiting game is horrific 😢

I’m sorry you have this worry. Have you called EPU? They may say to go for a scan at 6 weeks. I bled for 3 weeks at the beginning of this pregnancy, it doesn’t always mean the worst but I completely understand your panic and anxiety x

Really sorry to hear this. I'd definitely call the EPU and ask to go in for a scan and blood tests. Bleeding doesn't necessarily mean a miscarriage and it's important to get it checked out anyway. Hope you get on okay x

I agree, can you get an early scan? Are you filling a pad? Really sorry as I know it's near enough impossible to remain calm x

I bled at 5+3 last year - bright red and very painful cramping. Not enough to change a pad, but enough to keep seeing bright red blood with clots whenever I wiped. The cramps were very painful and worse than my period cramps. I was scanned by a private clinic at 6weeks exactly and there was a heartbeat. Never given any reason for the bleeding or cramping but it continued every few days until about 10weeks. I googled and googled and basically about 50% of cases where there is bright red blood in early pregnancy you will go on to have a healthy baby. I hope you're being looked after and you find a way to get through tonight xx

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. This happened to me a week ago and I was 5+2 weeks and I had brown blood and then bright red like.
I was referred to a&e waited 3 hours before going to EPU they told me they didn't scan at night and said they won't scan me really before 6 weeks! They did a urine test and said just to do hcg levels on my bloods by this time
It was 2am and said to go home and phone following day for results. Before this I already knew like you, just because i was early pregnancy we still have have felt it jus as bad.

Hi everyone, update. Unfortunately I've miscarried. I'm heartbroken. I only knew for just over a week but the sense of loss is overwhelming. I know it's rather taboo, but I think we are going to TTC as soon as I can. I never thought I'd say that, especially last night as I knew I was in the midst of losing my child. A further pg test has now said 'almost' negative. I know I'm my heart that's what has happened. My GP explained that because I was below 6 weeks, I just had to let my body do it naturally. I wish you all well, now gonna hit the MMC and TTC pages. Take care xx

I'm so sorry to hear this. I went through exactly the same thing bang on a year ago at almost 6 weeks. I'm now cuddling my 10 week old ds on the sofa after falling pregnant with him on the next cycle. What I will say is take some time to look after yourself physucally and emotionally and take things at your pace when you feel ready! X

Bleeding for about 5 days heavy (red fresh blood) + 5 days light (more like the end of a period + light bleeding)

I'm about 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I did a scan a week ago, where she said that the baby is there, but too early to see if heartbeat or developing. She told me to come back in two weeks to see if the baby has grown.

I read that bleeding can be normal in 50 % of the cases, but still feel a bit concerned. Has anyone had bleeding like this and went on to have healthy pregnancies?

I’m nearly 6 weeks pregnant. I had a miscarriage 3 years ago and been trying to conceive since then and it finally happened. All was well for the until I had brown spotting in week 4 on my pad. Then inconsistent days of fresh blood when I wiped. It would be on and off. Had a gap of 2-3 before I bled again. Now I’m getting red blood and small clots when I wipe but not flowing and filling the pad. Also I have been advised by the doctor to wait it out and do another pregnancy test in 2 days. Also I have noticed my breasts have gotten less sore. Any advice or information would be much appreciated as I am really scared.
