Hi

I have been on various versions of bromocriptine for 2 years. Most recently I am on dostinex. This is because my prolactin levels were too high and my periods had stopped. Since taking the medication my periods have been every 28 to 30 days. I am now on day 33 but am getting negative pregnancy test result. I am not experiencing my usual cramps etc that let me know my period is on thr way. Does anyone know if the medication could affect the pregnancy test?

Hi, yes I was taking Cabergoline for high prolactin for months before trying to conceive. Helped to regulate my cycles to 28-30days but still had the odd month where I was late. Fell pregnant in March and stopped taking Cabergoline immediately. I tested 10dpo and 11dpo and got a faint positive. I continued to test and the lines got darker each day. So I don't think the medication can effect the test. To be fair, the month before I fell pregnant I was nearly a week late for my period even though I was taking Cabergoline. I don't know if this was because of stress due to my job or having having my copper coil removed?? I hope this helps slightly? X

Thank you. Its so reassuring to hear from someone who had the same experience. Thank you. I know the more I think about it I'm probably stressing myself out and perhaps causing a late period because of that!! Congratulations to you. Thank you for your reply, it makes me that bit more hopeful that I even if not now, I will become pregnant eventually. Thank you.
