Sweep success @ 39weeks??

I’m booked in for a sweep next week, I’ll be exactly 39 weeks. Baby is engaged, what’s the likelihood of it working? Or any success stories? How did it go?

It’s my second baby but never had one the first time around so not sure what to expect. Thanks!

Sweeps don't work. And anyone who claims they do are mistaking it working for coincidence. The later you are the more likely you are to go into labour. Sweeps won't help.
Good luck with your baby.

Had a sweep at 39 weeks at 1pm but had been 2cm dilated from 36 weeks. She was able to stretch me to 4 and had bloody show as she did it. Didn't think it had worked as no pains then the next day at 16.45 my waters broke contractions started 30-40 mins later baby born at 19.11
I went for a long walk and bounce on my ball all night and day
I feel it worked for me but my body was getting ready to labour just helped me along the way. I don't think they help if ur body is not ready but if you body is I think it can help u along the way
Fingers crossed for u x

Well I had one at 40+2 with my first and labour started that night. It could have been a coincidence but to be honest I was happy for things to get going once I was at term. Currently 30 weeks with number 2 and will have one again if offered. I did find it pretty painful though.

I had 2 sweeps with my first, one at 39 weeks which did nothing, and an "sweep" at 40 + 4, which brought on horrendous cramping for four days until I gave birth, less than 12 hours before due to be induced. Don't know what the moral of that story is!
They help to move things forward, but obviously they are a first step towards trying to get baby out. If they always worked then no-one would ever get induced, but it's worth a try and you've nothing really to lose. I'd certainly go for it again as a first step. Good luck x
