Hello, just looking for some advice/induction stories!
I was induced yesterday morning at 9am with the 24 hour ‘teabag’, it’s been in now for nearly 19 hours now and started getting contractions in the afternoon at about 6pm, they didn’t start off regular but were strong, they started getting more regular and was monitored and having a contraction every 3 mins but was told to keep an eye on them and have a bath so that’s what I’ve done and everything but the contractions have gotten stronger and more painful, I left it and tried to get some sleep, so about half hour ago (4am) I called the midwife to say that my contraction feel a lot stronger and closer together (I hadn’t been seen by anyone since the last midwife monitored me at 6pm) and she just offered me some pain relief and that was it nothing else, I thought maybe now that they’re stronger and more intense I would have been monitored again or even checked over to see if I’ve dilated further but that was it, she said because I can talk through the pain it’s not intense enough but what if I’m just coping with the pain well because they are really intense now at this point, I really don’t know what to do at the point now!

Hi OP,

How regular are your contractions now?

My maternity unit wouldn't admit me until mine where 90 seconds long and 3 contractions in 10 minutes.

But hopefully you are progressing well, good luck!

Are you at home or in hospital OP?

MyOtherProfile · 07/09/2021 05:16

You definitely need to time your contractions.

I’m in the hospital I am, been here since 4pm Sunday, been timing them myself while I’m here too and they’re lasting about a 1 minute every 3 minutes, told the midwife this but all I’m being offered is paracetamol, really thought I’d be monitored, especially having the pessary in for nearly 21 hours now 😩

Call the midwife back and ask her to check how dilated you are. Sometimes you have to shout to get what you need. If you feel you need more than paracetamol tell her.

Yeah called her back and another midwife came she said the one looking after me has been called away, basically because I’m not screaming in pain I’m not having contractions, just feeling worried and a bit overwhelmed with it all! Looks like I’ll have to wait until the next lot of midwives that start at 8am now!
